Could Lefthander Simms Be the Right Fit?
http://min.scout.com/2/721215.html
The chatter about bringing a quarterback in from the outside has led to speculation about players like Donovan McNabb, Derek Anderson and J.P. Losman. While those players would all likely require substantial salaries and compensation to their current teams, Chris Simms could be a player that could compete with Tarvaris Jackson for a starting spot and be had for a relatively inexpensive pricetag...
Re: Could Lefthander Simms Be the Right Fit?
I don't want him. Saw too much of him at Texas. Can't win the big one and shouldn't have even been starting over Applewhite.
Re: Could Lefthander Simms Be the Right Fit?
I am not gonna go down the road of if this guy has the talent or not.
My bigger concern would be the difference/adjustments that would have to come because of a Left Handed QB.
Positiions that would have to be ironed out.
Tackle.
Normally pass rusher comes from the QB's blind side and your best T is there.
RB.
Although this isn't a big deal, the handoff delivery is a bit different so they would have to worked on that a bit.
Recievers.
A left handed throw is different from a right handed throw.
Again not a huge thing but a concern none the less.
Re: Could Lefthander Simms Be the Right Fit?
I've seen him play since high school, he's a quality player, but I don't know if he has what it takes to really lead an NFL team.
I'd be more than willing to give him a chance though. Depending on his price tag.

We need someone, who doesn't already have injured insides.

I recently read that his spleen was stronger than ever, and he now has voluntary control of the organ.
Re: Could Lefthander Simms Be the Right Fit?
With the position we are in, I think we could really give anyone a chance to compete with TJ.
You never know when someone is going to step up.
I do want to see TJ as our starter next season, but I want to see some competition.
I want him to work for it.
Re: Could Lefthander Simms Be the Right Fit?
It wouldn't be a bad pickup, but I certainly wouldn't be dancing in the streets if we got him.
Re: Could Lefthander Simms Be the Right Fit?
Cook would be protecting his blindside. LMAO!

Thats exactly what I was thinking.
Wait, someone in another thread is trying to convince me that our OL is nationally recognized as good to great in pass protection.
Sometimes this place cracks me up.
;D
