Cole Konrad - 2 time NCAA heavyweight champion impresses Vikings
Konrad, naturally, makes big impression on Vikings
The former heavyweight champion wrestler for the Gophers is hoping to catch on with the Vikings as an unsigned free agent.

Re: Cole Konrad - 2 time NCAA heavyweight champion impresses Vikings
Wrestlers have had success in the NFL before, no reason to immediately write the guy off.
Personally, I think trying out a guy with that much size, speed, power and endurance is a good call, particularly at the guard position.
Wrestlers have great work ethic as well, and are very disciplined, so slap him on the practice squad and see if he can't learn the guard position.

If Konrad has any apptitude for playing guard, and if we think he can be develope'd, do it. One thing for sure, once a wrestler gets his hands on you you aren't going anywhere... Maybe he could play DT also.

His entire athletic career (could argue until now with MMA) has been based solely off of simply over powering his opponants, can't do that in the NFL quite as much.
He didn't know any basic football terminology either.

If nothing else, it'll be fun to watch and gives the locals something to talk about
