Joe Horn is getting older and injuries are starting to get to him.
Kevin Curtis is still young and a good WR.
    I agree with the fact I don't know if he's a great #1 WR.
    I think he's a good #2 and an awesome #3.
    Who knows?
Maybe if he had the shot he would step up.
He's very dependable with good hands and decent speed.
    I would welcome him.
He's better than anyone we have right now.

    Lelie is an okay WR.
He's quick but there are concerns of his hands and attitude.
He would spread the field because he has to be covered but it may end up being the same as Williamson with his hands.

    I'll be honest.
I'm not a big fan of taking draftees over NFL players.
However, if the Vikings were able to pull off a trade to get Calvin Johnson I would love to see it.
I don't know what we would have to give up to obtain him but that guy I think could be a force.

I'd like to see us grab Greg Olsen at TE.
Good hands, quick and keeps his mouth shut (unlike other former Hurricane TEs).
I can say that as a Hurricane fan.

Let me bring something to everyone's attention.
    Think about this scenerio.
The Raiders take Calvin with their #1 pick (Moss, Porter and Johnson as WRs).
They upgrade there OL to add protection for newly acquired David Carr.
Their defense is already pretty decent.
I think they would go from a 2-14 team to a playoff team easy.
I'm not sure what their cap space is but that would be pretty scary for opposing teams.
It may be a dream to see this happen but it may not be that absurd?

If we are going to pin our hopes on Kevin Curtis, and Drew Bennett, along with Horn and Stallworth, we are in deep trouble.
Drew Bennett!? Honestly, he is definitely not the answer.
Suck it up Brad C and get the man that we all know we should.
The only way to get out of this funk is a huge trade, or drafting the best WR, we all know who that is.
If we don't fix the WR situation this year, we can expect to be 6-10 again or worse.
We should not be relying on our defense to score points.
If this is the case, then expect the case to be the same as last year.

    Interesting article on Curtis....

    http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,635155947,00.html

4.21 40 yard dash? Damn! That's fast no matter who you are.

Martz obviously saw something in him, and I trust Martz's thought process when it comes to offense.

Childress said he was going to look for a young guy with potential, and that's exactly what Curtis is.

    40 times of 4.21, 4.43, 4.36, 4.39. and 4.34....20 reps with 225 lbs....385 max....48/50 on the Wonderlic....

Most of you guys are scoffing at him, but if he were a rookie coming into the league with those combine numbers, most of you would be DROOLING over him. There is such a thing as unused potential, and that's obviously what Childress sees.

    Okay, those are good stats.
But again, if he is this good, then why are the Rams letting him go?
You don't let a WR with his talent go, but they are.
    I find that strange.

Re: Childress Already Eyeing Free Agent Receiver

I think Curtis would definelty be a welcome addition to the team. He is an obvious upgrade and could come in as a #2 receiver. Would he make our receiver corps stellar? Of course not, but anyone expecting to go from lousy to amazing in one year is kidding themselves. I am hoping someone like Curtis, Williamson, and a draft pick will be able to generate some plays for us. Getting a #1 receiver this year is going to be hard to do, and I doubt we will make a big trade for a receiver.

There really is no #1 out there. That being said I would take any one of the top 5 WRs. getting two of them would be awesome.

I can't answer your question for sure here but maybe the Rams are in a cap crunch.
I'm not sure if you have seen him play.
Curtis has great skills but they also have Bruce and Holt.
    Both very good WRs.
Maybe Curtis doesn't want to remain a Ram and they are letting him test the market.
Maybe they are seeing what terms he is offered and then will sign him after all.

There are many head games played in the NFL.
I can't answer them for sure but there's a lot more to it than why they aren't just signing him.

Re: Childress Already Eyeing Free Agent Receiver

Curtis would be great, he played really well at times, even if he has been behind to great receivers in Holt and Bruce.

He is ready to take the step up to starter.

I just initially didn't think we would get a shot at him, as I rate him in the top 2 FA WRs, along with Bennett.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.
