Seriously, I also mentioned cutting Madon't, Brick Berrian, Pat being gone the 20 million dollar man.

Our defense took a step pack last season but its because they excelled the season before. It doesn't need an overhaul. The reason our defense fell off because our offense could not score. If our offense is terrible, the defense cannot rush the passer. We can't rush the passer, we cant get sacks. We can't get sacks, Jared Allen is not happy. Deh End!!!!! I can send you a link where you see the biggest drop off stat was was sacks and we were on pace for a very similar season defensively to last year. Can you provide me a post that says our offensive numbers were similar? I'll wait!
PS. We still have 4 draft picks after the 3rd round. A high 4th to nab a 2nd day slip

NO i didn't think we would get luck but seeing that there appears to be 3 Qbs in this draft I rate with 1st round potential, We shouldn't take one in the first round.

    Mallet
    Luck,
Cam ( very late first round)

If you remove Luck, everything drops some

Mallet and Cam will be off the boards in the top 10. That leaves Gabbert
who cannot complete the deep ball, stares down WRs, and collapses when pressured. Ponder and the kid from Delware are 2nd rounders. My point is a QB like Mallet is a reach @ 12 but Wells, Gabbert is a bigger reach @ 12

We need to worry about keeping the guys we have before worrying about who to bring in. I would love some CB depth, especially if Cook and Griff do not look like they will get full health by camp. But I can't see us ponying up for Champ with the kind of money we will need to spend to keep Greenway and Rice who are must keeps.
The only FA we need to keep are Greenway and Rice.

Robison, Abdullah, Evans and Henderson, would be nice to keep but are instant franchise killing losses and should come back hear CHEAPPPPPPP. Except maybe Robison.

Our DL would be JA, JK, KW, Roison/Griffen
LB Corp would be CG EJ EH
CB: Griffen, Champ, Allen, Walker(cheap resign), Sheappard (cheap resign)
S : AW, Cook, Abdullah, Sanford, Johnson

All this talk about moving Cook and AW to safety is wishful thinking. It is not going to happen.

As for Berrian ... it would hit that cap you are talking about to cut him outright ... but it definitely could still happen.

As for what you project ... it does not matter in the slightest. All that matters is the teams that are drafting and what they project. There is little doubt out there right now that Gabbert, Mallet and Newton all project into the first round, probably HIGH in the first round and with Luck bowing out, it is likely that Locker moves back into the first round.

There is NO reason to think that a cap is a lock next year by the way. It is quite plausible there is no cap next season and they come to a temporary one year deal with no cap to appease the players just to make sure there is not a lockout. It is also feasible that there could be a CBA with no cap ... though that is a longshot.
Only a select few who have lost their minds will argue that the defense regressed more than the offense ... I am definitely not arguing that. But there are some definite needs on defense. First, if you plan on trudging Erin Henderson out there as a starting LB in this league, be ready to have a lot of problems. He is not anywhere near as good as Leber or probably anything else we could get on the market.

I have no problem bringing in Champ. It would be nice, but it just is not going to happen.

And there is no chance we draft WR and TE in the second and third round. Quote me on it if you like. Zero percent chance.

    1. Erin needs time on the field. He doesn't presently have it. However, he is impactful when he is out there. I would expect growing pains out of any first time starters.

    2. You should never say something is not going to happen. Hell, who thought we would have traded for Jared Allen?

    3. Or end up at the bottom of the division

    4. I never said any of these things would happen, just that this is what I would do if I was in charge. Having two pass catching is a blessing. I for one feel like our problems are minute. I believe our 5 of our loses can be attributed to QB play. Strictly QB play.

Well, if he is past his prime and on the downhill slide he is probaly just the right fit for the DAD.

For those who are wondering, the DAD is the Dumb Ass Defense.
