    Re: CC: Vikings Front Office

I think alot of fans use the combine alot because you can't use college stats for much because of the difference in competition, schemes, surrounding talent. The combine is a bit of a leveler because all of the athletes are compared in a controlled enviroment. But, sometimes players are over hyped because of a good 40 time or number of bench presses.

I would think the staff is still leery from the TWill incident, and the last few years have shown some quality drafting, so I'm not too concerned....

Wasn't Williamson inherited from the Red McCombs/Mike Tice era. I know there are some out there who know more but I think that would have been a different group of people making decisions

Haha yah that was the goal

Personally I was pissed off about the pick.. As were many people

Alot of people saw that all he could do was run past defenders in college.. And his best season was like 600 yards or something.. Which alot came off of 2 plays

But that was a really dumb pick.. But since then we have had great drafts

You know me, I give credit or lack of it to the front office and not the coaching staff when it comes to success or failure for the draft.

In this instance I don't really blame Studwell for that snaffu. Lest we forget, he had a very understaffed scouting staff under that owner.

Truth be told, the Vikes pretty much sucked at drafting under the Red Regime.

An increase in scouts to go out and find the players, a better front office (to include Spielman) to run the draft and a better relationship between the Coaching staff (Scheme/needs articulation) and the front office can be accredited for the improvement on our drafting success the last two years.

Oh well. It sucked but we can't do anything about it now. I just hope we snatch some receiver in the FA and pick up a good prospect in the draft.

One of many horrible first round drafts by Tice.
Yes, he did manage to snag a great player or two, like Kevin Williams.
But we all know how that draft went down.
