PS, I had the sarcasm icon turned on. Sorry you missed it.
It's not a requirement, It's something we do to kill time in the offseason when nothing else is happenning.

    Apparently, statistics aren't your strength.

    I never advocated 'chixits'......

Assuming odds of one player busting during their first contract period = .10

    Then,

    Odds of all 3 players busting, during their first contract period = .10 x .10 x .10 = .001

    I'll take those odds anyday!

Would you care to see Worker's Compensation Frequency of Injury statistics?
I work in insurance, and have access to such stats, which are used to price worker's compensation insurance.

I could take the football injury frequency stats and plug them in to the above formula, in lieu of .10.
Whatever the freuqencies are, the result is essentially the same; i.e. a miniscule possibility of 3 players being injured relative to the possibility of ONE player being injured.

Finally, add the frequency of busting, .10, to the injury frequencies, and repeat the above accumulation.
Result; a miniscule possibility of 3 players busting OR incurring career-ending injuries relative to the same happening to ONE player.

When we stop to think about it, most folks behavior isn't perplexing after all !

Re: Calvin Johnson worth the price for Vikings

I actually have heard about the possibilities of the vikings trading up to get CJ. However, i really dont think its possible unless he falls to #4 and Tampa. The top three picks are far too expensive!! I know the value chart changes year by year but it wont be much different to this=

    #1=3,000
    #2=2,600
    #3=2,200

    Vikings @ #7=1,500

So, it would be far too expensive to trade upto any of these spots being realistic and accepting the fact that we have more than one pressing need to address in this draft. However, the difference from #4 Tampa and #7 Vikings is only 300 points, that means if CJ does slip to #4 we could offer Tampa either #7 overall 1,500 points + #41 overall 490 points to give a total of 1,990 (more than generous). Alternatively we could keep 2nd round pick and lose picks #72 overall 230points + #106 overall 82 points to give a total of 1,812 (more realistic but not so tempting for the Bucs).

Although i dont think CJ will slip this far and also i dont think u could tempt Gruden away from having CJ even by paying over the odds, it is a possibility and id like to see us go for it if he does slip.

It's more like I don't want to waste my time obsessing over statistics...picking busts over good picks (especially factoring in injury busts....luck of the draw IMO...is a crap shoot IMO).

But go ahead and knock yourself out!

    Case in point:
Gale Sayers basically had 4 GREAT seasons, yet still made the HOF...Terrell Davis basically had 4 GREAT seasons as well (and helped the Broncos win TWO Super Bowls).
I don't know about you, but I would take the chance that Calvin Johnson would play for 4 or 5 GREAT years and help the Vikings win a Super Bowl or two versus picking up a few good to mediocre players who don't give us that push to win it all.
I am fucking sick of just missing out on winning it all...it's time for the Vikes to take their shot!!!
