Brooks, Frerotte, or Booty someone has to go.

Obviously TJack barring injury is a lock, and the Vikings won't keep 4 QB's so who ends up being the odd man out? There is a chance that Brooks could(I personally doubt it) could beat out both Frerotte and Booty or GF could suck ass in the preseason and Brooks and Booty both look solid. Would they let GF go, and roll with Brooks and Booty. what if Booty plays better than expected could he be the back-up? and GF abd brooks end up battling for #3. Would the Vikes bring in another QB if a solid veteran is out there? Alot of teams drafted QB's high for treams that already had 2 solid QB's and then there are teams like TB with like 20 QB's on their roster. Thought?

Brooks will be gone. Gus was brought on for a reason. Booty was targeted as a project.

Gus will stay as his job is to help TJ learn.
    BB just can't do that.

Unless, Booty totally sucks in camp and pre-season I think he's going to be the #3.
He's there in case TJ doesn't show improvement this year, he's the next young option.
If he doesn't look like a good option at the end of the year, then I expect the Vikes to be active on the QB FA market in the off season next year.

BB would be a realistic backup behind a proven vet QB, but having him as #3 just isn't realistic unless there is no other decent option.

TJ >> GF >> JDB at the beginning of the season, but could easily become
TJ >> JDB >> GF before the end of the season.

As you can tell from most of my posts, I have high hopes for JDB.
But I don't think he'll be Rookie of the Year or even a starter this year.
But wouldn't that be freaky if he was RotY?... back to back RotY.
I think I might have taken too much Prozac

i can almost bet my life that Booty will stay.
They drafted him with their 2nd pick in the draft, they obviously wanted him for a reason.
however, he is a project, so don't expect to see him playing anytime soon.
They won't try to sneak him to the practice squad, as he'll get scooped up faster than chocolate ice cream in a pregnant lady's freezer.

Re: Brooks, Frerotte, or Booty someone has to go.

I actually really look at "Investment" instead of talent when I analyze these things.
I know, some of you are rolling your eyes but hear me out.....

Everybody on this roster is talented and has the skill set to succeed on this roster.
Sure some are more talented than others but it all comes down to what has the staff invested in the players.

    a.
    TJ.
    2nd round pick.
    2+ years of coaching.
    1 year of starting.
    Countless hours of film study.
He has all the talent in the world, has posted a winning record and has shown flashes (right along with the rookie gaffs) to think he will continue to mature.

TJ will be your starter for as long as he is healthy.

    b.
    Gus.
    Brought in for a reason.
Very seasoned vet who can help young QBs with things that the coaching staff can't.
Has proven he can win games if behind a good line/decent running game.

Gus will be here for at least 1 year, maybe two.

    c.
    Bollinger.
Has had every chance to prove he is a quality backup.
Can make most of the throws but doesn't quite seem to fit in as part of a long term solution in this scheme.

Bollinger will not be on the roster this year.

    d.
    Booty.
    5th round pick.
Seems to have almost all the skills required to be at least a very good backup/starter in this league.
Has questionable ability to make the deep throw when needed but the coaching staff should be able to help him with that.

JDB is the long term answer as the Backup #2 QB behind TJ or, if TJ's contract demands are to high, heir apparent to replace TJ as the starter.

    e.
    Wright.
UDFA that will probably make the practice squad if another team doesn't snatch him up.
Possible candidate to be groomed to be the number 3 QB behind JDB if they can hide him this year.

Long story short, in a years time, the coaching staff could finally have (what I believe they've always wanted) 3 QB's that they've hand picked to run this team in different levels of maturity which should solidify our QB position for years to come.

Re: Brooks, Frerotte, or Booty someone has to go.

Frerotte was brought in for mentoring & to have a veteran presence & adequate back up to the starting QB position.

If the Vikings are only going to keep 3 men on the roster, the odd man out won't be determined until the final cuts during preseason.

Booty & Brooks haven't even been on the team a week & deciding whose going to get cut at this point is ridiculous. It's pure speculation & not based on anything done in the pros.

College ball is not pro ball. Their slates are wiped clean & the goal for both of those two is to prove themselves at the pro level both physically & mentally.

Of course its pure speculation and its based on nothing but my opinion.
