    Bring back Culpepper?

Since Gus is most probably not coming back, should we sign Culpepper to be our backup and compete for the starting job with TJ? This is of course assuming we can't land a franchise QB though Free Agency.

He seemed to be in great physical shape, still has the fire to play, relatively low mileage, still throws a beautiful deep ball, accurate and has always succeeded in a system with a strong TE. The Dolphins, Raiders and Lions teams he played for over the last few years were all a mess with uncertain agendas which probably hid his potential.

I think that if he works through the offseason program, he has a pretty good chance of beating out TJ for the starting job.

    No, head case.
His time as a Viking, unfortunately, is over.
It's too bad, I thought he was gonna be great for a long time.

Why not? Hes better than T-douche. I think Booty should find his way to start for this team.

While he showed that he still has the physical tools to be at least a decent backup, I really doubt this move would ever happen. If I remember correctly when the Vikes and Culpepper parted ways it wasn't on the best of terms, and some bridges were probably burned there.

I can' believe there are still people wanting Culpepper back, the guy isn't starter material anymore, IMO, he sucks, and even if you think T-jack sucks, which most people do, he's better than Culpepper IMO. (since his return in Detroit)

    Re: Bring back Culpepper?

People's biggest problem with T-Jack seems to be "inconsistency".
The inconsistency that comes form playing 4 straight pretty good games then doing bad against a team everyone has. But that's neither nor there.

I don't see Culpepper helping the inconsistency situation.

    Re: Bring back Culpepper?

I'm sitting here in a Culpepper jersey, and I say we stay with Tarvaris Jackson.
Was he Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or Donovan McNabb??? Of course not, but I think he showed a lot of improvement and if we stick with him with another off-season under his belt with the same O-line, and some of the same playmakers, I think it will pay off this year.

When you say bring Culpepper, it's easy to see Culpepper and picture the 03 and 04 days, but that was a long time ago.
    Especially in football years.
I was a Culpepper fan, even with the way he left.
Say what you want about the guy, but he OWNED the Packers.

Anyhow, I don't see the 2009 Daunte Culpepper as an improvement over the 2009 Tarvaris Jackson.
