Saints | Brees wants $10 million per year; Saints closest to his demands
Sun, 12 Mar 2006 18:22:37 -0800
John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports free agent QB Drew Brees (Chargers) reportedly is seeking a contract that will pay him $10 million per year and he is firm in those demands. The New Orleans Saints are the closest to meeting Brees' demands. The Miami Dolphins aren't offering as much in guarantees as New Orleans, and they seem to have dug in on not doing that with Brees coming off shoulder surgery.
Dolphins | Team still pondering Culpepper trade
Sun, 12 Mar 2006 18:28:07 -0800
John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban is still contemplating a trade with the Minnesota Vikings for QB Daunte Culpepper. The Vikings aren't as adamant about asking for a second-round draft choice that could upgrade to a No. 1, but they want a second-round draft pick. One problem is the Vikings won't let Culpepper have a doctor's visit with the Dolphins, only allowing him to talk on the phone with Miami. In the next 24 hours, the Dolphins quarterback will be either Culpepper or free agent QB Drew Brees (Chargers).

Especially for a terriblely overrated QB such as Drew Brees ... I mean seriously ... one good year? ... does that balance out two TERRIBLE years and one average year? I guess it does when there is noone else on the market.

That's a whole lot of cash. Also, I would take a 2nd rounder for CPepp. Although a conditional pick would make much more sense. I would feel robbed if we got a 2nd rounder and they got 40 passing TD's.

^ I also think Drew Bree's is a little bit overrated and I'm suprised he's asking for that much money. You have to remember in San Diego he had the best running back and tight end in the NFL. If he goes to Miami he's going to have weapons, but their offensive line is HORRIBLE.
