Maybe they're trading Brad and a second round pick for Schaub

Re: Brad Johnson To Be Released Friday Reported By Adam Shefter

He was just released (from startribune.com)

    Brad Johnson released
Wednesday, February 28th, 2007 by Kevin Seifert

Although it is no surprise, the Vikings informed quarterback Brad Johnson this afternoon that he will be released. The move will allow Johnson to pursue his option immediately when the market opens Thursday night at 11 p.m.

Johnson opened the 2006 season as the Vikings starter, but coach Brad Childress benched him with two games remaining in the season. In 14 starts, Johnson completed 61.5 percent of his passes for 2,750 yards. He threw nine touchdown passes and 15 interceptions for a 72.0 passer rating.

In two stints with the Vikings, Johnson had a 28-18 record as a starter. He also has played for Washington and Tampa Bay.

Johnson, 38, has played 15 seasons in the NFL and fully intends to make it 16 in 2007. It is believed that 3-5 teams have serious interest in signing him as an experienced veteran backup.

The Vikings have toyed publicly with drafting a blue-chip quarterback in April, but their most likely course of action for 2007 is to pit Tarvaris Jackson and Brooks Bollinger in a training-camp competition for the starting spot.

More developments are expected throughout the day and into tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Good luck to Brad. But not too much luck. I think he won a Super Bowl the last time he left the Vikes.

These writers are so lame, why does he tag this on the article? He has no better idea than anyone on this board what they are going to do. All we know now is Brad is no longer a Vike. We lost a class guy, who gave us some great football in the two stints he had here.

I am going to miss BJ.
I wish him all the best.
He gave it everything he had both times that he has played for us.
I just hope he lands in the AFC.

Brad has been nothing but class when he wore purple and gold.
Even through the tough times last year, he was nothing but a professional.

Sure hated to see him go out the way he did.

i will still wear my BJ jersey with pride (mainly caus my GF got it for me this summer...)

he represents the year of recovery after all the classlessness the vikes had earlier.. BJ.. still the man.. good leader, too bad he couldnt always give us what we wanted
Agree w/ that. He tried & came up short. Too bad, cause he is a humble guy.
i m better than you, so just give up...

No surprise here.. Hopefully he will latch on with another team soon.. He is a classy player no doubt.. I am just glad that his last appearance against ST. Louis when T-Jack went out hurt for a few plays, that the fans gave him a standing ovation.. Good luck BJ next season with your new team..
