i agree with cajun... if cj isn't there at 7.. there isn't a wide reciever worth taking there... but we absolutely have to adress the WR position through the draft.. i'd be a little nervous waiting around to see what was left in the 2nd.. i think if CJ is gone at 7 we trade down.

I like Meachem more then Bowe. But could live with either one if we traded down.
Because I'm a Vikings fan, they are that much sexier.

I have Jarrett dropping because he won't run.
Ginn will, at his own workout, and I think he will put up a great 40, causing his stock to rise.
I, however, this that he will only be an OK WR.
The more I look at Bowe the happier I am with him.
Jarrett is running at the USC pro day, and has the best hands of any WR in the draft. He'll be a mid first round pick no matter what he runs.
I know I refer to pft.com a lot, but I have to do it again.
From what I read yesterday, he is currently running in the mid 4.7's.
That is embarrassingly slow for a top tier WR.
I wouldnt be surprised if he's still on the board when we're making our 2nd round pick.

JARRETT RUNNING IN THE 4.7 RANGE?

"We took plenty of flak a couple of weeks ago when we unveiled our first-round mock draft, and omitted USC receiver Dwayne Jarrett.
We explained that he was off of the list because we expect him to run the 40 in 4.6 seconds or slower.

Moments ago, the guys working the combine for the NFL Network said that Jarrett recently has been timed in the mid-4.7 range while working out privately.

If he can't improve his speed before the USC Pro Day workout, there's no way he's a first-round pick."

    Chuch.

    Re: Bowe and Meachem

Perhaps another option would be to take our first round pick, then try and trade our 2nd and 3rd round picks to get another first round pick somewhere near the middle-lower half. This way we could hopefully pick up someone like Meacham or Bowe without having to overspend the number 7 pick on him.

Of course, that's not to say that spending a 2nd and 3rd round pick wouldn't be too much either. In fact, I think it would be since we wouldn't have another pick until the 4th round. Just thought I would throw it out there to play devil's advocate. And at the very least we could get one of the top 5 receivers and hopefully spend our first pick helping to shore up either the D or O line.

    Re: Bowe and Meachem

CJ, Ginn, Bowe, Hall (combine and senior bowl), Jarret, Meachem would be my order.

Personally I like Quinn at 7 but if Childress is really sold on Jackson then I hope we draft Ginn.

Ginn just brings too much to the team.
Field position is huge with our offense and we really lack a true kick and punt returner.
Ginn also would do great at the crossing routes we run sometimes for Troy.
He allows us to also run reverses and everyone knows his speed is there to go for the long ball.

For a team that is desperate for a playmaker I don't think you will find a better one in free agency or the draft that would be available to us.

Additionally, the draft doesn't end after the second round.
There will be a couple of interesting prospects in the later rounds and guys we haven't even heard of.

Look at it this way...IF alot of teams pick up all the top WRs in the FIRST round, they will be passing up alot of better players at other positions...which will make our second round pick even MORE valuable...we will end up with a more talented player...albeit at another position.
    WIN-WIN situation!

    Re: Bowe and Meachem

My Ranking for WR right now is:

    CJ
    Bowe
    Ginn
    Meachem
    Jarrett

Anybody else get this feeling too?

Calvin Johnson is hands down the best.
    Ginn did not work
out but what I did see of him I was not impressed with.
I really thought Bowe and Meachem did great.
    I would
either take Bowe or The TE from Miami with the first pick. (
this is assuming I could pick a good pass rusher in FA)
