First of all, the college football program DOES matter or there would be just as many HOFers from Alabama State as from USC.Ahem, they are in the NFL now.
It's a whole new ball game.
What they did in college really means nothing anymore.
They played there, did good enough to get drafted, and now they are both pros.
For all we know Booty could be a bust; and there have been plenty of them coming out of college (Leaf, Smith, Couch).
They were not any high expectations of Booty so we will just have to wait and see.
If you want to judge an athlete by what college he played for or the system they had, then we will point out the athletes that went to lesser known schools and did good (hell, even made the HOF) and debunk this entire thread.
Just another anti-TJ thread to go along with the other 2,876,875,757.
Nobody can predict anything unitl they step onto the field.
2nd, I'm not bashing TJack, just being realistic that he had a much harder learning curve then Booty will and Booty may very well be ahead.
I'm more praising Booty than bashing TJack.
3rd I admit Booty can easily be a bust.
But just as you bring up Leaf, Couch etc.
there are Brady's from late in the draft.
I just think Booty comes into the NFL better prepared to play at the higher level and in a WCO than TJack did.

Re: Booty more prepared as rookie than TJack
We have Purple shades and now BOOTY SHADES......God help me.
First Booty is going to have to prove he can beat out Bollinger for the clip board.
And if we judged every player by the college he came from, well I guess we all should have thought that Walter Payton and Jerry Rice would amount to nothing more than a pile of crap also.
As for TJ,
let me see what him and the team are doing around the half way point of the season, then I'll comment on TJ's play and growth. But I'll bet right now, Booty is on the sidelines with his clip board and sharpie pen, doing what he should be doing, learning and soaking it all in..
I LOVE THE SMELL OF VICTORY IN THE MORNING AIR.

Like I said, throw away the college career.
How many games has of telling if Booty is going to be better at the WCOBooty played in the NFL?
How many has TJ played in the NFL?
Who knows, both my suck donkey balls.
But, there is no way
than TJ.
And it's not like Booty was highly regarded as top NFL talent as well.
Booty has played in a pro style WCO at USC (NOT Alabama State) for 2 years and won 2 Rose Bowls... TJack is still learning, might have made great strides in the off season to really understand the WCO, but he didn't show it last year.

Whether they played at USC or Vermont St.
What does that have to do with anything?
Hell, 1 of them actually has NFL games under his belt.
And you think the college kid coming out this year is more prepared?
There is a huge difference between reading a college defense than NFL; hell the spped alone of every player.
As far as HOF's from each school...duh...USC gets the better players.
Once again, no bearing on anything here.
I bring-up the busts because they were predicted to be awesome and they blew.
What my point is, you cannot really predict anything about a player coming out of college until he actually plays a NFL game (and not those pre-season games vs 3rd string defenses).

That's why.
Jeesh.

Re: Booty more prepared as rookie than TJack
There is a reason why we waited until the 5th round to take a quarterback, just like there are reasons why Booty was still on the board in the 5th round. Tarvaris Jackson will be the starting quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings for the 2008-2009 season.
To say any rookie quarterback would be more prepared than a player going into his 3rd year is nothing short of ridiculous.

Great, he should do well for us since we don't run a "true" WCO.TJack may have 14 pro starts under his belt, BUT his college career was virtually worthless, playing in a non-pro offense against low end opponents.
Booty played at USC with a pro-style offense, a former Pro coach, and against top college teams in the country.
Was a starter for 2 seasons and won consistantly including 2 Rose Bowls.
Booty is already a WCO QB, TJack is still learning it.
Booty might not have the wheels and arm of TJack, but he's more accurate and twice the leader. Is calm rock solid pocket QB, just what you want in a WCO QB.
To make TJack effective, Chilly is going to have to adjust his system to fit TJacks strenghts... I don't think he will.
Whereas Booty is closer to ready to get the job done now.
My prediction is you will all be surprised in the pre-season when Booty completes 70+% of his passes.
Throws 8 yard slants resulting in 20+ YAC, aka Montana and Young.
Accuracy and placement are Booty's trademarks.
TJack will be a good QB, but not a true WCO QB.
Don't you know we run a KAO?

USC attracts blue chip HS players.
I'm just saying the talent level that USC plays against is far superior to the talent level Alabama State plays against.
So if your going to DISAGREE with me you need to prove to me that Alabama States football program and competition is equal to USC's.
That is a BIG factor that EVERY NFL scout looks at... but it seems to people here that where you play college ball doesn't matter at all.
