as good as it is that Booty is making progress I just can't see him moving up the depth chart. If Childress fails this year and was canned then I can see any new HC coming in and cleaning house, maybe keeping Sage to tutor a QB from next years draft, with TJ & Booty leaving.
If TJ is an ongoing project that still needs time then what hope does a 5th round pick have?
If he needs developing then he would be better with a team where the coaching staff will do that - that isn't with the Vikings unfortunately.

I hope Booty stays and they give him a decent chance to develop and with Favre here now, what a chance he has.
This means TJ is likely gone and Booty has a couple of real QBs to learn from.
JDB threw some nice balls against the Colts.
Needs some work but he is a third stringer with limited snaps.

This is what I liked.
Like Sage, Booty came out with short drops and quick passes. Really impressive.
But not surprisingly, TJ comes out with deep drops and no decisions.
THAT is why TJ is done.
He just doesn't get it.

And above any other reason, how many Vikings third sting QBs have gone on to play and START for other teams and quite impressively, too?
I say why not?
Chances of picking up a better QB particularly in the draft are slim.
I say, give him a real chance and do everything short of anointing him the QB of the future (we know how that turns out).

Odd scenario here...but I would love to see Kansas City cut Thigpen and then we could pick him back up. I have been a T-Jack supporter because he can run...but I would cut T-Jack and Booty if we could get Thigpen back. Thigpen > Booty and Thigpen can run as well as T-Jack. . This would give me a little hope for the future after Favre.

Not as strange a scenario as it might seem...Todd Haley has 5 QBs on the roster right now and he keeps saying that he would prefer a "pocket passer..."

If he didn't cut it in the awesome offensive powerhouse that is Kansas City, why would he cut it here?

I agree with Thigpen. He looked better in his rookie pre-season games than Booty does.

However, assuming Thigpen is not released, I still think Booty has a future with us next year. The front office will probably draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round next year - maybe even trade up to get the guy we want - and have him compete with Booty for the starting position in 2011 while Sage gets us through next year (doubt Favre will be back).

I just don't see us holding on to TJ any further.
