He's good for depth, but I really don't see him or Asher Allen as starting material yet. IMO we are still going to need to either pick up a CB or high draft pick, because I don't think Griffin will be 100% by seasons start, but I hope he is, because he was really coming along.

I definitely liked what I saw out of him the last couple of seasons and think he fits with our scheme well.

I am comfortable with Griffin, Winfield, Sapp and Allen, but definitely would love to see us go get someone in the first couple of rounds (preferably the first) as age and injuries seem to be catching up with us.

O-Line and CB seem to be two positions you can never really have too many of.

The pass first NFL has really put a premium on CBs and Sapp played surprisingly well when called upon last season. I am stoked he's resigned! In reality, you need at least 3 CBs who can cover, cuz sometimes, vs. certain teams, you might even start in the nickel!!

And, there will always be injuries...

I wonder if Kennedy and some of our other guys might be warming up to their Viking offers...? :silly:

I think Benny made a lot of progress last year - not only as a CB, but also in his maturity level. The preening and stupid hits we saw early in the season seemed to go away as he got more PT and more responsibility.

    Glad they re-signed him.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

    I noticed this too.

Glad to see him coming back. I started to like what I saw from Asher Allen, too. I hope they both continue taking steps forward in their progress.. Because we'll need them when Winny is done at CB. Hopefully Griff will heal up 100%, too.

First let me say I absolutely love this signing. Nothing better than having a CB who has a bit of a tude.....

Back to CC's post, it will be interesting to see how this all falls out.

I'm basically counting Griff out until the 2011 season. Even if he does get back on the roster, we've seen enough examples to know that they aren't 100% when they get back on the field.

Whinny really slipped last year and he wasn't really that good in coverage to begin with.

Both AA and Benny stepped up and played pretty damn good ball, considering the scheme and I expect they will be even better this year.

Looking at my mock (yes I almost have the first round done) there are two CB's that should be available, possibly 3, (Kyle Wilson, Patrick Robinson, Donovan Warren) that should be able to participate/provide some reps if needed.

I'm going out on a limb here and gonna say that Whinny will not be our starter the whole season on the left side, even if he stays healthy. At some point I bet we see the AA as our LCB and Benny as our RCB with Whinny filling in on rotational stuff like the nickle.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg
