I love the depth of our O-Line right now. Come August, we're going to have to make some tough cuts, considering we usually have 9-10 O Linemen. Currently, I count 11 who certainly are worthy of making the roster:

    M Birk
    S Hutchinson
    B McKinnie Starters?
    A Hicks
    M Johnson

    R. Cook
    A Goldberg
A Herrera Worthy backups, but 1-2 will have to go
    C Liewinski
    M Rosenthal
    J Whittle

S Bubin Lose out b/c of the numbers?
    M Wilson

Re: Artis Hicks aquired from the Eagles

#77 Artis Hicks | OG Roster:

    Full Name: Artis Hicks
    Born: November 28, 1978
    Jackson, TN
    Height: 6-4
    Weight: 335 lbs.

    Age: 27
    Pos: OG
    Experience: 4 years
    College: Memphis

    Grade: 69 | Key
    Alert: I : Injury

    Comment:
He is not really a lunger, usually shows decent overall body control, and he doesn't end up on the ground a lot. He also has versatility because he has played LOT and LOG in his NFL career, but that actually may be a detriment, because he seems to be a player that needs to settle in and know exactly what his role is going to be. He is not athletic enough to succeed on the perimeter, but he does have good overall balance and a nice feel for the game. He struggles with speed rushers, shows a tendency to play a little straight legged and gets lazy at times. He has had some problems staying in peak condition, and when he gets into trouble, you wonder if it's because he tires and possibly loses concentration.

Anudda wasted pick on some lazy bum.

    Maybe he's Childress's boyfriend, y'know?

It was a good trade. Hicks can be valuable if he stays healthy. He can provide the stability needed on the right side of the line.

i dont know what you expect. when you trade a 6th round pick for a guy.. his scouting report will never say "the type of player that will change a game by himself. a franchise gaurd. will play 15 years."

Re: Artis Hicks aquired from the Eagles

Here's what they're saying on the Eagles message boards. Funny enough, they're REALLY positive about our picks. Maybe we all need to calm down a bit.
    ------------------------------------------------------
Re: Vikings aquire Artis Hicks My opinion of Hicks after 2004:
Was that the Eagles had a up and coming swing lineman who could start at OG and swing to OT if a injury occured. I felt he'd be a good player for the Eagles for years to come.

My opinion of Hikcs after 2005:
Was that he shouldn't play OG. He's a OT. He was likely to get released from the Eagles after selecting Justice and Gilles, so he had little value left. He wasn't good as our starting LG last season.
To be honest, after 2004, I thought Hicks had probowl potential, and showed flashes in 2004, but he took a step back last year......Hicks actually was a RT in college, and I'm sure Childress knows that, so he will probably take over there.

    Mckinnie
    Hutch
    Birk
    Johnson
    Hicks

Looks like a very good offensive line for you guys.

Re: Artis Hicks aquired from the Eagles

Here's another message from them that should make us brighten up a bit:
    ------------------------------------------------------
I miss Brad Childress already. He just ripped off his former team by getting a starting OG for a fourth round pick. AR uses that pick for a WR from Michigan who is the protypical Gari Scott, Freddie Milons, and Na Brown type player. Childress also picked up the best SAM LBer in the draft by far. And that's a position the Eagles desperately needed and instead drafted a speed rusher from 1-AA instead.

Again, not impressed with Heckert after the first two rounds (which were no brainers.)
    ---------------------------------------------------------
Also, supposedly our last draft pick, Mr. Ray Edwards is a hybrid type player that might actually fill in at linebacker position.
