Seattle over paid. Wanted him back, but not at that price.

Re: apparently rice got his payday
We put up with his injured ass for 4 years and he has one good year and bounces. He's a total douche hole and I hope he never plays a full NFL season. Is playing on a joke of a team like the seahawks really worth an extra couple million? What a cock sucking anal bag. I'm seriously pissed. It's not like he was superstar for 3 years and we didn't give him a payday, no, he sucked dick for 3 years and was great for 1 then he leaves.
I am NOT here to provide good football insight or rational observations. I am an emotional 19 year old Viking fan and I expect you to adjust your expectations from my posts.

I don't hate him for taking his payday. If I'm mad at anyone, I'm mad at the Vikings for not locking him up before he ever hit free agency.
The Vikings are the ones that fucked up. When they signed the ex-Bears WR Aromashodu, that pretty much sealed the deal that Rice wasn't coming back.

Really? The signing of Aromashodu had nothing to do with the loss of Rice. DA will be competing for a roster spot (though that gets easier without Rice) and signed a paltry contract.

Your first point is right though. We should have paid Rice a long time ago, then again, right when we would have been ready to talk, he dicked around and missed half a season with an injury.
I think the fact we did not pay him prior and clearly were not willing to match the Hawks shows our front office had some issues with him that they were not willing to risk that kind of money on.
Still hurts. And wish he was here. But this might not be a horrible thing in the long run.

It may have been a paltry contract, but was a contract nevertheless. Keep in mind the Vikings were already 4-5 mil over the cap. Cutting Kennedy to reduce our payroll doesn't put a big dent in getting where we need to be. Especially after getting McNabb.

Yes, but the Aromashodu contract still does not affect the bargaining at all. I dont see how bringing in a guy with less than 200 yards last season effects anything. His contract offsets the release of Baskett, Lewis, Brown, etc.

As Schefter and Jason La Canfora say. If a team really wants a player, they make it work. They can always find cap room elsewhere (i.e. the Jets signing Holmes and going after Nnamdi).

Re: apparently rice got his payday
I do not mind letting him go. The last thing we need to do is tie up big money into players that cannot stay on the field.
We need to stay competitive, which we will, while also building youth toward the future. That way when Ponder matures he will have a team around him with a good size window of opportunity to win with.
As a team we are in a similar situation as we were when Childress came here. The difference being we actually have the quarterback situation squared away this time around.
