The great thing about finishing with the 3rd pick is that you are going to have your choice of Kalil, Claiborne, or Blackmon (depending on St. Louis) as well as teams wanting to trade up IF Matt Barkley declares.

Both Washington and Miami will want him and with new ownership/head coach in Jacksonville they very well may decide that Blaine Gabbert isn't their guy.

I'm constantly torn between Blackmon and Kalil. Blackmon is obviously the way sexier pick, but Kalil is said to be an anchor for 10 or so years which we definitely need. I hope we are active players in FA but don't rely on it completely. I want to build through the draft.

    Bad news:
Source: OT Matt Kalil "set to return" to USC - CBSSports.com

Still hope he declares and comes here, however if not, we should target Morris Claiborne from LSU or Justin Blackmon from Okie State

If the bowl ban on USC is lifted I bet you could see Kalill and Barkley staying.

    Good shout.

I think there are a couple of decent OT's in the draft so its not the worst thing in the world if Kali doesnt enter

The bowl ban is already "lifted." They do not have a postseason ban next year. So, it is definitely possible that Kalil and Barkley return to school, especially since Kalil has already been hinting at it.

They would likely be the National Championship favorites heading into the season as well. I would still be shocked if Barkley and Kalil come back knowing that both are locks to go in the Top 10, but kids have been going back to school quite a bit lately.

It appears from the handful of Mock Drafts that are out there, everyone thinks Kalil will be a Viking should he remain in the draft.
Also, it seems that a bunch of them think we will go with the guard out of Iowa State in the second round.
I would definitely be all right with this.

As it stands right now, the Rams 16 game schedule is 111-81 and ours is 109-83 ... which would give us the No. 2 pick. Of course both us and them play 4 more games, as do all the teams on the schedules, but the Rams remaining schedule and ours, we could easily end up winning that tie breaker.
Thank You Midge for that tidbit!

All credibility from Walterfootball was lost with this one:

    2013 mock draft

32 St. Louis Rams: Isaiah Johnson, FS, Georgia Tech
2012 NFL Mock Draft selection: Zach Brown, OLB

The Rams win the Super Bowl in this scenario, which I think is very realistic. Sam Bradford will be in his third year, and he'll have a great defense to support him.

One of the weaker areas in that stop unit, however, is the safety position in the wake of O.J. Atgowe's departure.

Walterfootball often has some terrible takes.. I mostly use his site for the mock draft database they have.
