    Re: Trading Bobby Wade.

This would be a horrendous idea, and I am frankly shocked to even have seen it come up. Wade is one of the better slot receivers in this league--the poor man's Wes Welker, if you will--and he is an excellent release valve for our...ahem...less than stellar QB's. Unless there was someone clearly better to step in, this would be a colossal mistake. Harvin or someone else may eventually be that guy, but we won't know until they play in real NFL games at NFL game speed.

In other words, it could happen after several games into the season, but it better not happen before.

And for anyone that would want to trade him, what exactly would you expect in return?
    probably very little.
a 4th max is likely what we'd get for him, and tahts if the other team is feeling extremely generous.
Exactly. In other words, he's worth far more to us than anything we'd get in return.
    He isn't that good.
He was 56th in yardage and 52nd in receptions in the NFL last year.
He has inconsistant hands and fumbles the ball a good deal for a WR.
He got 2 TD's last year, which is a very unimpressive stat.

If we traded him, which I am for.
I think someone else would need to step up a little bit, but I would expect someone too.
Whether it's Harvin, Rice, Johnson, or Reynaud.

    +1

    Very underrated IMO

I got laughed at one time for calling him a poor mans Wes Welker.. Thought I was comparing thier talent levels or something

We would never get back what he is worth to our team

OK, you favor trading him. But you didn't answer my original question: for what position(s) or player(s)?

^ I would trade him for a fourth.
I don't believe he would be any better then fourth on the depth chart this year behind BB, Rice, and Harvin and he really doesn't add much to special teams.

+1, plus you don't know when someone will get hurt. Plus I don't think you can put Harvin or Rice ahead of him as of right now, neither have proven much. As of today I think Wade is probably our 2nd best reciever behind only Berrian, hopefully that changes but only time will tell. How long does Wade have left on his contract?

which is why you're a fan and not a GM.
He's far more valuable to us than what we'd get for him.
He's a reliable slot guy, a good vet to help our extremely young WR corps grow.
What if Rice never stays healthy?
What if Harvin is a bust?
We'd look mighty stupid having traded away our #2 receiver.
What would we get with a #4 (probably wouldn't even get that much)
    I believe Allison was a #4 or 5 pick.
    That didn't work out evidently.
