All Thigpen wants is a chance to show his stuff

All Thigpen wants is a chance to show his stuff

The Vikings spent one of their last draft picks on the quarterback from Coastal Carolina, who can make plays with his arm and his feet.

I heard/saw some rumors that the Bengals were gonna bring him in as well.

I really like this kid from what I can read on him.

Versatile and a lot of upside.
Bet he makes it as number 3.

Kinda bothers me that he "didn't take the offseason very serioussly" his first three years but I guess people can change.

Everything else sounds good to me, I like this organizations ability to find obscure players.
This guy can grow right behind TJ.

It doesn't concern me that we didn't get Quinn or even a vet.
The way I look at it and I think Chilly and Rob B do is that this is a long term project still in its first few years.
Bringing in Quinn, Carr, or Green wouldn't have been any a safer bet or better long term then TJ.

Carr is unproven and that is not acceptable for what he was demanding.
I think to Chilly he would have to start out where TJ was a season ago.
Quinn is the same.
Green doesn't fit the long term goals.

I think it is safe to say when Chilly talks up TJ it is 100% honest and he is very confident in him.
Otherwise the actions up to this point would have been different.

WR??? Don't think so. BC is a genius and has found yet another diamond in the rough in 1-AA. Who know we may see this guy starting come Dec. ;D
Seriously, a pick like this is a spec pick on a player that shows good upside, from the way he has improved over each season and his athletic ability, he looks like a good #7 pick. Who knows Tom Brady Jr.?

...the Vikings' official web site lists seventh-round quarterback Tyler Thigpen of Coastal Carolina as a wide receiver. If the team moves him to wideout, it means that four of the Vikings' eight draft picks were used to address this position.

So I went to the Vikings site and he is listed as a WR. Hmmm...

IMO, he'll be a quarterback. Childress was talking about making plays with his arm and his feet in the article...sounds like quarterback talk to me.

Besides, they had said in the past they'd look at a quarterback in the mid to late rounds anyway.

BINGO...... ;D

Don't get me wrong here, as I like TJ, but this is a bit of insurance if he doesn't pan out.
Additionally, cheap backup that fits the system.
