After meeting with his family Sunday afternoon, the Vikings have cleared running back Adrian Peterson to participate in their rookie minicamp starting Friday.

This is good news, and he sounds eager to play. Still, we'll see if that story holds up after he agrees to a contract. Either way, we don't need him to start immediately, so if he needs surgery, he should definitely get it.

The Vikings are expected to determine in the coming days whether they want top draft pick Adrian Peterson to have a plate inserted into his collarbone to aid healing. Peterson and coach Brad Childress have insisted the running back will be ready for training camp and will participate in next weekend's rookie minicamp. But they have been less resolute on how they will handle Peterson's collarbone, which he reinjured during the Fiesta Bowl.

Doctor says Peterson's collarbone is healing just fine
The Vikings running back has essentially healed and will not require surgery, which could have led to a weakened bone.

I saw a little blurb on ESPN about this. Glad they decided not to mess with surgery. It would have set him back some.
