9.7 Million to pick up James! Worth it????
Per the CBA, using the franchise tag on James would require a tender equal to 120 percent of his 2005 salary, which would be $9.7 million in real dollars and in 2006 cap room. If that kind of an offer hit the table, James undoubtedly would sign it in a heartbeat.
Considering that Shaun Alexander wants $80 million (pipedream) is it worth it considering James' age and all?Kentucky Vikes Fan

Re: 9.7 Million to pick up James! Worth it????
I really don't think that he is worth all that. How much is MeMo earning?? With a decent line, he could easily gain 1000 yds. Are the extra 600 yds or so worth so much more??? Look at what Denver has always done - get a good solid line, which will not cost nearly as much, and then you can throw anybody back there and they will succeed.

Thanks PPE for the sig.

No. Not worth it.

Personally, I don't think there is intelligent life on other planets. Why should other planets be any different from this one?

I agree! Where are all you guys who were ready to spend $80 million for Alexander???? Stupid moves, both of them.

Wouldn't cost that much to get him.. They wont have money to tag him and trade him if they want Wayne and a few others back.. He will hit the FA and sign a contract for 3-5 mill a year..

A while ago didnt edge make like a list or something that he wanted done or he wouldnt play for a team. I just remember a few from there. One was like the home stadium had to be grass not turf. Another like he didnt want to play anywhere where it was cold.

Re: 9.7 Million to pick up James! Worth it????
With us having the 17th pick in the draft, this move wouldn't make sense. There's a good chance we'll be able to nab Lendale White, Deangelo Williams and if not one of those two, maybe even Laurence Maroney. All these guys were incredible in college and show promise for the future. Edge is amazing, a future hall or famer, but he's on the downward slope.

Offensive line, Strong Safety, and Linebacker are the only areas that will be addressed via Free agency. We have 3 good backs and are in position to snag another one at 17.
