The Vikings selected Mississippi free safety Jamarca Sanford with their seventh-round pick (No. 231) overall.

Sanford has certainly had his off-the-field issues. He was arrested in September 2003 after allegedly stealing a car stereo out of a car parked on campus and was arrested again in January 2008 on charges of disorderly conduct and failure to comply. Sanford refused to leave the parking lot of Night Town Billiards in Oxford, according to his bio in the Pro Football Weekly Draft guide.

Sanford, who is 5-9, 214 pounds, started all 13 games at strong safety last season and served as a team captain. He is a cousin of Rebels defensive tackle Peria Jerry, who was taken 24th by the Atlanta Falcons.

The PFW bio on Sanford graded him as a “priority free agent” calling him an, “aggressive, fireplug, box safety with limitations in coverage. Could have to make it on special teams.”

So what the hell did somehave to do to get that "Red dot" the vikes were talking about. Half of our picks have had off the field issues.

Outside of some Al-Qaeda members and a couple Somali pirates, I don't think they took anyone off their board.

This post is "raise the roof" worthy.

I was suprised by this signing, not so much the who, but the position.
Someone had me convinced there was "NO WAY" they draft a S this year.

Excellent ST's prospect and appears to be a Thumper in the box.
I like him.

I like this pick, have seen him play a bit and like his potential.
Besides being a midget with some issues, he has a good attitude on the field.

A tough kid, 4 year starter who's best chance is to bolster our kick and punt teams. Being a good open field tackler gives him a chance to suit up on Sunday. I think he is a longshot to even make th practice squad, as I see we have picked up other ST type guys from the UDFA resevoir. Overall I like that we are looking to improve the bottom of our roster, and ST's.
