    8. Minnesota Vikings - Leon Hall (CB) Michigan

Analysis: This pick comes down to Hall or Dwayne Jarrett for the Vikings, but Hall wins out when they decide that a potential lockdown cornerback is harder to find and more valuable then a potentially very good wide receiver.
Hall's not the fastest cornerback in the draft, but he plays physically and has good ball skills.

I just dont see us taking a corner, with Griffin playing so well..
A top corner can have immediate impact as a rookie.
It is extremely rare that a rookie WR can have that sort of impact.

That may be true. But still I think need will at least pay a part in the decision of who to draft.

Therefore I think the positions that'll be considered would be WR, OL, TE, QB, DL

I could definitely see us picking up a corner.
We are losing Smoot this year.
That only leaves us with Winfield and Griffin as decent CBS.
Whitaker is OK, and I liked when he did when he was in Europe, but he is not the answer.
Another CB would give us some needed depth, and provide us with a quality nickel back in either Griffin or the new one.

I can see your point. And maybe I'll have to rethink my opinion.

    I just don't feel we'll take a corner in the 1st round.

We also have Dovonte Edwards comming back from IR

Can never have too many quality Defensive Backs.
I agree that drafting one at #7 with such a glaring need at WR would be tough, but, it may need to be done.
Best Player Available at WR, MLB (although, the vision may be Leber in the middle), or DB.
It seems the Vikes are laser locked on Cook at RT, so, don't see OL in first round; least not right now; that may change as the weeks pass.

Why draft a CB for depth when we have 2 decent CBs but 0,zilch, none, nadda WR's that are even decent. I honestly dont know if any of the current WRs will even be on the team and I wouldnt care if they were not.

Calvin Johnson or Duane Jarrette we need a freaking WR

We will have the 7th pick in the draft next year.
Here is the draft order assuming Chicago beats Green Bay:
    1

    Oakland Raiders
    2

    Detroit Lions
    3

    Cleveland Browns
    4

    Tampa Bay Buccaneers
    5

    Arizona Cardinals
    6

    Washington Redskins
    7

    Minnesota Vikings
    8

    Houston Texans
    9

    Miami Dolphins
    10

    Atlanta Falcons
    11

    San Francisco 49ers
    12

    Green Bay Packers
    13

    Buffalo Bills
    14

    St. Louis Rams
    15

    Carolina Panthers
    16

    Pittsburgh Steelers
    17

    Jacksonville Jaguars
    18

    Cincinnati Bengals
    19

    Tennessee Titans
    *20

    New York Giants
    21

    Denver Broncos
    *22

    Seattle Seahawks
    *23

    Dallas Cowboys
    *24

    Kansas City Chiefs
    *25

    New Orleans Saints
    *26

    New York Jets
    *27

    Philadelphia Eagles
    *28

    New England Patriots
    *29

    Indianapolis Colts
    *30

    Baltimore Ravens
    *31

    Chicago Bears
    *32

    San Diego Chargers

    * = playoff team
Obviously, the Superbowl winner and loser are #32 and #31 respectively, but otherwise this is it.
The draft will change a little starting at the #8 pick if Green Bay wins, and if that happens I will post an amended order.

EDIT: I had Detroit and Green Bay transposed.
    Fixed it. :-[

watching the game yesterday, leon hall got beat a heck of a lot by dwayne jarret, and he didnt impress me AT ALL.

i agree with maxvike, that the glaring need at WR should be adressed before a CB. and RG or RT. or QB.

I agree too, but we can't address WR in the draft.
We need a proven WR who is ready to start in the NFL immediately.

We can address the WR problem in 2008 or 2009 in the draft, but not in 2007, you're exactly right, NP.
If the Vikings want to draft a player that will have a positive impact as a starter in 2007, WR is not the position to go after.
