And with the 7th pick of the 2007 draft, the Minnesota Vikings pick...

    It's official.

We will have the 7th pick in the draft next year.
Here is the draft order assuming Chicago beats Green Bay:
    1

    Oakland Raiders
    2

    Detroit Lions
    3

    Cleveland Browns
    4

    Tampa Bay Buccaneers
    5

    Arizona Cardinals
    6

    Washington Redskins
    7

    Minnesota Vikings
    8

    Houston Texans
    9

    Miami Dolphins
    10

    Atlanta Falcons
    11

    San Francisco 49ers
    12

    Green Bay Packers
    13

    Buffalo Bills
    14

    St. Louis Rams
    15

    Carolina Panthers
    16

    Pittsburgh Steelers
    17

    Jacksonville Jaguars
    18

    Cincinnati Bengals
    19

    Tennessee Titans
    *20

    New York Giants
    21

    Denver Broncos
    *22

    Seattle Seahawks
    *23

    Dallas Cowboys
    *24

    Kansas City Chiefs
    *25

    New Orleans Saints
    *26

    New York Jets
    *27

    Philadelphia Eagles
    *28

    New England Patriots
    *29

    Indianapolis Colts
    *30

    Baltimore Ravens
    *31

    Chicago Bears
    *32

    San Diego Chargers

    * = playoff team
Obviously, the Superbowl winner and loser are #32 and #31 respectively, but otherwise this is it.
The draft will change a little starting at the #8 pick if Green Bay wins, and if that happens I will post an amended order.

EDIT: I had Detroit and Green Bay transposed.
    Fixed it. :-[

BTW, in case anyone is curious, here is how draft order is determined.
Note that Denver is picking before Kansas City, even though Denver had the strong strength of schedule.

    Determining Order of Selection

    • The team with the lowest winning percentage at the end of the previous season drafts first in the NFL Draft.

    • The rest of the teams are placed in order from lowest winning percentage to the highest.

    • The Super Bowl winner drafts last, even if they do not have the highest winning percentage.

    • The Super Bowl loser drafts next to last.

    • Strength of schedule for the previous season is the first tie-breaker for teams with the same winning percentage.

    • Divisional and conference records are the next step in the tie-breaking procedure.

    • As a last resort, a coin toss is used to determine the order of selection for teams with the same winning percentage.

    • If a playoff and non-playoff team end the season with the same winning percentage, the non-playoff team selects before the playoff team regardless of strength of schedule.

I'd love to see Calvin Johnson in purple. Maybe we could bundle Smoot or Haris in a deal to move up for him. Maybe he'd pan out a little better than T-Williamson.

And with the 7th pick of the 2007 draft, the Minnesota Vikings pick...the entire Ohio State Buckeyes Senior Class

We'll trade for the coaching staff later :

Some many needs....hope we don't trade this pick for Schaub and get a healthy contributor for 2007

I believe Schaub is a restricted FA, so the compensation for him would depend on Atlanta's qualifying offer. I don't think it would be a 1 or 2, unless the Falcs decide to trade Vick. I'd give a 3 for Schaub, yep, sure would.

I think we either need to trade up for WR Calvin Johnson or get DE Gaines Adams. To me those are our two biggest needs. We have no pass rush (Udeze starts every game and doesn't get 1 sack?!?!?!), and we do not have a #1 receiver. It would be amazing if we could sign Dwight Freeney somehow and then trade up for CJ.

The sad part of all of this is I never thought I would see us drafting before the Texans :'(

But on a serious note its way to early to tell. We are in a so;id psition to trade out of that position and depending upon wht happens off season our need could change dramatically. I am going to say a DB who can also play KR/PR another area of depth that is nedded especially if Smoot is gone

Our pass rush will be bolstered when Erasmus James gets back.
Right now opposing teams double team Udeze almost every time because there is no rush on the other side.

If Arizona cans Denny, we should try and trade for Larry Fitzgerald.
I'd give up thye 7th pick and Smoot for L.F.
    Bring him back home

Yeah. There's no reason why we should draft defensively if we keep that pick. Either go with a WR, TE, or OL.
