5 Underrated FA's That Make Them Playoff Contender
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/711940-minnesota-vikings-5-underrated-free-agents-that-make-min-playoff-contenders
Many will argue that the Minnesota Vikings will once again bottom-out the NFC North.
They will probably tell you that the inexperience at QB in combination with the inconsistency at OL will keep the Vikings' air attack stagnant.
They may even argue that their virtually non-existent secondary will leave them in the dust behind the Packers, Bears and Lions.

Like all of them except Burress.
I think there will be far better talent out there this FA period without the issues Burress has.
However, no denying that Burress knows how to block. A good blocker could help AP out big time.

If we bring in a receiver I think Torry Holt would be a good pickup

Torry holt had as much of an impact last year as Issac Bruce did.

He got hurt and cut by the Pats. Something tells me if he signed with us he would be an upgrade over Hank Baskett, Greg Lewis, and Berrian.

yeah, but there are alot of young, talented guys out there who ALSO are better than Hank and Bernard.

There is no chance Holt is an upgrade over Berrian at this point. And he would not be worth the money to be a No. 4 or No. 5.
I think that the idea of Gallery is a really good one and was wondering a while ago why I had not heard more about him around these parts. Gallery is certainly a solid guard.
I also would love to see an addition like Rudy Gay to the secondary and think that a pickup of someone like Eric Weddle would pay immediate dividends. Unfortunately, I don't see either of these guys parting ways with their current teams.
Burress would be interesting after we already came close to wooing him before and obviously Bulger to push/mentor Ponder could be a good thing.
Pretty good little piece for BR.

Re: 5 Underrated FA's That Make Them Playoff Contender
depends which Plaxico shows up. When he wants to he can make a QB look really good, I'm pretty sure the Packers can back me up there, as he almost single handedly murdered that defense in the playoffs the year they won the superbowl. He has character issues, obviously, but he's a hell of a lot less likely to be running around with a gun in a night club in Minnesota vs New York.
I wouldn't mind seeing him on a short leash here if the price is right, but we also shouldn't be quick to cut him if he's not worth the trouble of the roster spot or his character issues get in the way.
As for the rest of the list I wouldn't mind seeing any of those guys on the roster. My only issue is with Bulger, but as long as he's on the bench and not throwing interceptions like he's Cutler or something I'd be ok

Re: 5 Underrated FA's That Make Them Playoff Contender
Even though I'm not so sure I believe our pass defense issues are because of our secondary (I believe its scheme and DL issues that suck), however, whats not said about William Gay (that I like) is that he has been involved in the "Zone Press" coverages that the Steelers have been running under Tomlin for the last 2 years and might help in that transition, if I'm right about them moving to that variant of the Cover 2 (not T2).
Haven't been on for a while. Are the rest of you finally figuring out that Ponder is gonna start? The Vikings will start Christian Ponder in Week 1. I have no doubt in my mind about this inevitability.
Anyway, I like the Bulger aspect. He would be a great fit to help Ponder and Webb develop when it comes to how to prepare for a game. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

It works both ways though. If the corners up their game, the DL looks alot better. Currently a decent DL is making a sub-par secondary look better than god-awful

How does he help Ponder develop? I thought that was the coaches job?Anyway, I like the Bulger aspect. He would be a great fit to help Ponder and Webb develop when it comes to how to prepare for a game.
