So what you are saying is that any football player who runs under a 4.4 is a lie?

I would like to see Bolt run the 40 at the combine, just to see what would happen. Or have some of the 4.4 NFL guys run against Bolt in the 100m.
No sprinter alive accelerates at 65m. It is a proven fact by the biophysicists for the USATF that the last 30m of a 100m dash every single runner is decelerating, and that is why it looks like some people are getting walked down, sucked up, etc. The faster runners can hold maximum velocity for a longer period of time.

His official 40 yd. dash was 3.53 according to ESPN.

I don't think Matt H would be very happy about that... unless of course, you are Matt H.
Thought I copied the whole thing in....pretty sure if I was trying to steal somebody elses material I would have taken the sources out...

Also, I see your theories were awfully similar to those on there...Just a thought...
You're right they are similar, roughly. That doesn't change the fact that I did the research and math myself, calculated it differently than anyone else on there, with a more accurate result, wrote the post myself, and linked to my sources.

I'm not trying to turn this into a problem or argument, so I'm dropping it after this post, but in the future, cite your sources, and at least make an attempt to let people know it's not your work.

Re: The 40 Yard Dash: Something to Remember.

Interesting comments, I thought summed it up pretty completely.
Compliments of pft not very long ago...

The other problem with the running test used to assess incoming pro players is that, as someone explained it to us several years ago, there are only two occasions when a guy runs 40 yards in a straight line during a game:
when something really good has happened, and when something really bad has happened
The article also mentioned that its not in pads etc, and so therefore, not "true football speed."
Control the line, control the time, and give your D a chance to shine!!
