    Re: $30 MILLION? Really?

According to Rick, the Vikes are not going to sign a "Top Tier" big name FA. He said the Vikes will fill some needs & rebuild through the draft. So we may snag Curtis, Stokley or Moulds for WR. Graham from NE as a TE would be cool. And expect either Adams or Quinn in the 1st round.

I am really surprised by the, well, surprise by reporters and posters alike at our cap room.
We all knew that the 12+ mil wasn't the final number.
And with several players pretty much guaranteed to be cut, it could only go up.
I am pretty sure at least one other web site estimated the Vikes final cap numbers around 30 mil, and we even discussed it a couple of times here at PP.O.

Just another day in the office for Rob B.

Come on, NP - if the $30 million is true, that's an assload more than $12 million (150% more, eh!
How's that for the new math!)
That's an amazing amount - and I wonder why other teams like, say, SF aren't suddenly at $42 million or something by using similar tricks?

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

If it was so far fetched, how come some of us have been predicting 30 mil for over a week now?

    Lol.
Honestly, I don't have any idea how Rob B. manages to work his magic, but he seems to do it every year.

The actual amount of cap space we have is still up for debate.
The $12 mil in cap space number came from an espn article posted here by John Clayton (hardly the end all source IMHO).
The sports illustrated/cnn source you referenced was using these numbers in which the Vikings have $30+ mil in cap room.
Both are tentative and based on estimations.

Until March, we won't know for sure what our cap numbers will look like, so don't assume that we will lose out on anybody because of cap space before then.

    Re: $30 MILLION? Really?

Gosh I LOVE the offseason....dates like today are almost as exciting as the Season Opener...I go on KFFL after being off my computer for only a few hours and I see a ton of new news!!! We're looking at Drew Bennet, we're meeting with Kevin Curtis, we're courting some low-life TE from the Giants that has sat behind Shokey his whole career...most importantly, the team is active and its fun...

There are 5 exciting days in the NFL year (in my opinion)

    1. Start of Free Agency
    2. NFL Draft
    3. Beginning of Training Camp
    4. Pre-Season Opener
    5. Season Opener
