I would like to see Kleinsasser stay, he is one of the best blocking TEs in the league.
If Napoleon Harris walks the plank, I'll be throwing used tampons in the water so the sharks will be primed to feed.
Matt Birk should be done, time for him to go to a chihuahua ranch in Mexico.

DT Jimmy Kennedy is huge and could contribute the first 4 games if Pat and Kevin are out.
OT Marcus Johnson...I say we gotta keep this guy.A few weeks ago he played a couple of nice games at RT and is a solid backup.

yeah, i agree Kleinny should stay... so should Kennedy... I saw a big difference with him in there agaisnt the eagles, versus wyms in there agaisnt the giants... I think he actually has something to prove and may be the GUY he was supposed to be when he was taken before K.dub!

Two things I really need to see first.......1) CAP that is available, 2)Keneche's Health.

With that said, going on the assumption that we won't have alot of CAP (someone said 15mil, I figured 7 mil) and Keneche comes back 100% I would keep/release the following:

    RFA
    DT Fred Evans
    CB Charles Gordon
    (100% HEALTHY)
    DE Otis Grigsby
    DE Jayme Mitchell
    FB Naufahu Tahi

    UFA
    C Matt Birk
    S Darren Sharper

    Sign that cat from TB
    S Michael Boulware
    FB Jim Kleinsasser
    MLB Napolean Harris
    LB Heath Farwell
    LB Dontarrious Thomas

    DT Kendrick Allen
    DT Jimmy Kennedy
    DT Ellis Wyms
    OT Marcus Johnson
CB Benny Sapp Give him one more year.

Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

I agree with the first set of guys exept Jayme Mitchell, with Udeze posibly on his way back I'm not sure he can make the squad coming off major knee surgey. On the other hand it will be intristing to see how Udeze responds after his sickness and not playing for a year.

IMO Birk and Sharper are all but gone, both had solid season's but considering there age I beleive we will move in new directions. Kliensasser was awesome this year, I really hope we can find away to get him back in the locker room. Depending on Farwell, Harris could be the odd man out, I don't see him as a force but he is a good blitzer.

Mardro I read an article earlier that said we would be about 20 Million in cap space, depending on incentives distributed to players it could be different.

Here's a link to that article...
    http://www.twincities.com/vikings/ci_11382172

    SALARY CAP

Unlike most seasons, the Vikings are not among the league leaders in salary cap space. Currently, the Vikings are in the middle of the pack, about $20 million under the projected 2009 salary cap of $123 million. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, by contrast, have a league-high $40 million in cap space.

The Vikings' figure could increase next month by $5-$10 million, depending on what escalators and incentives players triggered and reached.

What and where will the Vikings make changes in 2009?

Currently, the Vikings are in the middle of the pack, about $20 million under the projected 2009 salary cap of $123 million. The Vikings' figure could increase next month by $5-$10 million, depending on what escalators and incentives players triggered and reached.

With their top pick in the range of Nos. 21 to 23 in the first round, the Vikings will have plenty of room under the cap to continue their free-agency sprees, if they so desire.

The annual question is how much Wilf's ownership group is willing to lose, given the team's revenue challenges.

And while they have invested lucrative contracts in numerous positions, are they willing to spend extensively at quarterback, the most expensive position of all?

Wilf declined to talk about his free agency plan.

"Right now, we're just enjoying the accomplishments that we did this year, and we'll build on that," he said.

    Re: 2009 Vikings Free Agents

I'm not sure if we're really ready to replace them, but I'm betting Birk and Sharper are both gone.

    Kleiny is a keeper.
If we are going to be replacing C and RT, it would be nice to have that extra blocking around to help out...whereever it ends up being needed the most.

    I may be mistaken???
but, aren't the Restricted FA already under contract with us?
They could get offered a raise, and we could match, or decline and collect a pick or two...eh?
If that is the case, then we may as well keep them all on the roster through preseason...

We might want to keep Boulware around for S depth...Farwell is our ST ace who was sorely missed, DT is good LB depth and plays decent ST.
We need some of those DTackles for depth/rotation...just in case of suspension...not sure who I'd pick really.

MJ never really got it all together.
Nap Harris apparently thinks he's a lineman (99?)
Sapp is OK, but not likely to beat out any of our top 3 CBs...
