Re: 2009 Senior Bowl Articles-Notes-Observations
I watched it last night and I am surprised Mardro did not mention Phonso. He looked very good. He is my pick if we pick up a RT in FA.

Senior Bowl practice report, Day 2
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/football/nfl/01/20/senior.bowl.day2/Alphonso Smith/CB/Wake Forest: The Demon Deacons' corner was yet another defensive back who stood out Tuesday. Smith looked fast, physical and very instinctive all day. He battled against larger receivers and his 5-foot-9-inch frame never backed down. Smith defended a number of passes and played like a starting NFL cornerback.

Hahahaha. I would laugh so hard if we drafted him. We would have 2 of the most athletic QBs in the league, which would open up a lot of options in the playbook, that Childress would choose not to conjure up.
Pat White from West Virginia looked good.
Heard a interview with him on "Moving the Chains".
Not as articulate as one would want, however, he sure can throw a ball and that was really evident yesterday as the other QB's struggled with the wind but his were spot on and didn't seem to be affected.
The fear gearing a scheme around an athletic QB arises because he's more susceptible to injury, and NFL teams generally only have 1 athletic QB.
Childress would just be setting himself up to prove he's a failure. Although I do like that idea.
1.
Lets not turn this into a "I hate Chiller thread" but rather lets just focus on what the talent looks like on the field and if any of them would fit the scheme based on what we are watching, have seen or know about the kids.
2.
Pat White.
Watched him again last night. Damn he throws a nice ball.
Seems to be a bit small though.

Pat White/QB/West Virginia: Scouts wanted to give White a chance to prove he can play quarterback at the next level, but the early returns have not been positive. White struggled throwing the ball. White was not accurate, could not drive deep passes even though he was throwing with the wind; and at this point, he looks like a college signal caller who may be better off at a different position in the NFL.
http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/9132778/Scout.com:-Senior-Bowl-winners-&-losersBut the consensus I got in Mobile was that he's never going to be a starting quarterback in the NFL.

We need as much competition as we can get and White def. has some upside.
If he drops I would def. want to get him.
Problem is someone else might take that chance in the 3rd round (ive seen predictions of this) especially if he runs a good 40.
He has loads of potential, and he has proven himself against better competition than T-jack coming out of school.
