    2008 NFL Mock Draft - 4 Rounds

    by Gregory Cox
Director of College Football and NFL Analysis

I have been asked what the fascination is with NFL mock drafts. For me it is pretty simple. Everyone has hope for the following season when their team can make a run. Top to bottom each city can look for something positive in a mock draft. Last year the Giants were 8-8, now they are Super Bowl champions. Fans of Houston, Philadelphia, Minnesota, and Arizona (all 8-8 this year) or even Denver, Cincinnati, Detroit, Chicago, Carolina and New Orleans (7-9) have visions of a similar run.
For all you draftnicks out there, this guy usually does a pretty good job not only picking actual players but he also has some pretty good points when it comes to why teams pick the way they do.

    17) Minnesota – S Kenny Phillips (Miami, FL)
    47) Minnesota – DE Chris Ellis (Virginia Tech)
    73) Minnesota (via Denver) – WR Adarius Bowman (Oklahoma State)
    82) Minnesota – C Steve Justice (Wake Forest)
    113) Minnesota – QB Erik Ainge (Tennessee)

Needless to say I really like his stuff even though I depart from his selections after Ellis
    ;D.

Take some time and read his comments on all the teams.
Again, he always does a great job explaining things.

I would love to see Phillips there at 17 but I don't see it happening.
Also, Bowman will be gone by the third round.
Would love to see this senario happen though.

Did you read his comments to see why Phillips slid to 17 and why Bowman gets into the 3rd round?

I have followed this guy for a few years.
He is pretty damn accurate and has some pretty good insight into what the each of the teams are gonna do at thier picks.

Again, it is a long read, but if you follow his comments for each team it makes sense.

I wonder if he's related to Danny Ainge-ex BYU QB?

I would love for us to get Phillips. If he falls to us, I don't see any way we don't take him. He is actually one of the barometers I use while judging other mocks. If they have him being taken after pick 17, I usually dicredit the mock. Especially if they have us taking a WR like Jackson in his place

I like the first, fourth, and fifth picks, but not the 2nd and 3rd.
I'd rather the Vikes draft Devin Thomas in the second and take the best DE, OL, TE, or DT in the third.

The combine starts on Thursday for all my fellow draft nerds!

I think Denver takes him @ 12. Lynch is getting old fast.
We would then have to hope to get him after Det, and Arz gets done...

I will still take Sweed over Phillips.
1 can contribute while the other will probally be riding the pin for a season or 2.
Maybe we get rid of Smith after next but 08 will show phillps very little playing time.

Maybe so...but he has slipped out of the first round because of his high bust potential.
Only time will tell with all of these rookies.

Re: 2008 NFL Mock Draft - 4 Rounds

why does he have us taking a qb?

that would be insane to even draft a qb.. thats just what we dont need.. another unproven qb in minnesota.

urg. we've got back ups, and another qb in the mix, in the later rounds none the less would be a waste of a pick
i m better than you, so just give up...
