I can agree on the Tyrell Johnson / Sharper change, but i think Birk would have outplayed Sullivan.
Sullivan stepps up, we're the team to beat.
I hear ya, and I know I am of the minority on this, however, I just don't think Matt was playing all that well.
At least not in this scheme.

I wish him well, however, rumors out of Ravens camp is they are going to look at a ZB scheme.

    :
I know he wasn't top notch anymore, it's just not knowing on what level Sullivan plays is what is bothering me.
Out with the Old, in with the New is a good thing but not when the Old was better than the new
Did you see the post I made about the High School coach and what he told me?

    Readers digest version.
He is a Vikes fan and said we can't run screens cause our C can't pull anymore.
He pointed out that we have tried more and more to run the screen in the middle of the field instead of out to the side because of Matts limitations.

Anyway, I haven't had the time to look, but I do remember seeing some funky screens were everything was all mucked up in the middle of the field.

Anyway, long story short, if for no other reason that we can start to see a C pulling again, I think we won't miss Matt as much as some contend.

Re: 2008 draftees to get their chance

    Positives and Negatives.
Sure, Sully will have some mishaps, but so did Birk, and the kid is obviously more mobile.
There have been a lot of us calling for more screens to AP...It'll be interesting to see if we don't try that more often, and with more sucess this upcoming season.
Of course, Peterson could probably use a little work on his hands, and in the passing game in general.

The backhand of Sharper's own words, is that he doesn't fit our system.
Maybe, Tyrell ends up being an upgrade by mid season.
He's faster, and perhaps, not as likely to gamble.
Judging by the way he was flying around the field in college, I bet he just needs a bit more experience, so the game slows back down some
and he can go back to rocketing toward wherever the ball carrier is!

I think, there's a real good chance, that by the end of the season, we're happy that we have these guys signed for several more years...as they continue to improve.
    ;D

    On a side note.
Some of the stuff about were the Vikes staff has been for prodays is expanded on in a nice insider article.
Suffice it to say, the scouts and coaches are logging some frequent flyer miles for sure.
that means absolutely nothing... Marcus Johnson, Troy Williamson, Ryan Cook, Tarvaris Jackson, Marcus McCauley.
All of those players were drafted and started, doesn't mean they should have been.
Having a player start by default, does not make it magically turn into a good pick.
So now you are lumping MJ and TWill in with the draft classes of the new regime?

As to your point, you are correct (I guess), just because they started cause there was no one better on the roster, doesn't equate to a good pick, however, if they continue to start or at least provide some reps as a backup, my guess is they are good enough to atleast get a nod as a good pick.

Quick question, do you consider AD a good pick or a great pick?
I'm not lumping them with anything, my point was they started, but shouldn't have, that doesn't necessarily make it a good pick.

I consider the AD pick a good pick, not great.

Great would be finding someone that produced like him in the 2nd or 3rd.
he was a top pick, and evidently top talent, he fell to us, and we should have taken him.
When the redskins took Landry before us, that was the only guy I wanted there, and with AD on the board still, we would have been idiots not to pick him.
AD ended up starting, but not by default, he earned that.
Tyrell and Sullivan have done nothing to earn a starting job, they were lucky enough to be in a situation where the starters at that position took off, leaving just them.

I call a pick like him Great regardless of where you draft him.
Anybody that makes the team and contributes by seeing significant amount of reps (starting or not) is a good pick IMHO.

Lets not forget, it wasn't so long ago that there were a hell of alot more rounds than just 7 my friend.

Yep, AD was a great pick.
We could have very well ended up going after Brady Quinn there, pretty happy as of yet that we didnt.
We also needed a receiver so we might have gone after Ted Ginn Jr.
    AD > Ted Ginn.
Or Jamaal Anderson since we could have used a DE (total bust).
If there is a guy who has the ability of AD in spot where you can nab him, I think no matter what your needs are, you should draft him.

haha even if he does break out with a great season this year... AD has two on him, and unless he gets hurt *knock on wood* i don't think AD will have a "bad" season

thank you Josdin00 for the amazing sig!

I hope AD is like Tomlinson, in that a "bad" season for him means he only gets 1100 yards and 11 td's

also something I'd like to point out, I was looking at LT's career stats (which are rediculous btw, never had under 10 TD's or 1100 rushing yards in a season) his rookie year he had 8 fumbles, in 2004 he had 6 fumbles.
this season peterson had 9 fumbles, which is fairly close to LT, but you don't see people bitching about him.

Actually, with last years play, and him not playing in that big playoff game a couple years back, there was a lot of bitching about LT.
