Last Game v Texans
The last time the Vikings and Texans met was on October 10, 2004,
the only other matchup between the two teams since Houston entered
the league in 2002. The Vikings won that game 34-28 in overtime in front
of 70,718 people at Reliant Stadium and moved to 3-1 on the season,
which was the last year the Vikings went to the playoffs.
In that fi rst game, the Vikings started fi ve rookies - T Nat Dorsey,
RB Mewelde Moore, TE Richard Owens, DE Kenechi Udeze and LB
Dontarrious Thomas. After taking a 21-0 lead early in the third quarter
the Vikings allowed the Texans to tie the game at 28 with under two
minutes remaining. The Vikings would need a 50-yard TD pass from QB
Daunte Culpepper to WR Marcus Robinson to win in overtime.
Vikings Offense
The Vikings offense, led by Culpepper, exploded for 510 total yards
on the day, including 388 in the air. Culpepper, who was named Fed Ex
Air Player of the Week for his performance, completed 36-of-50 passes
for 396 yards and fi ve touchdowns. He became the fi rst Vikings quarterback
to have two games in the same season with fi ve or more touchdown
passes. His fi rst fi ve-touchdown performance came just three weeks
prior, when he threw for 242 yards and fi ve TDs against the Cowboys.
Culpepper’s favorite target on the day was Robinson, who fi nished
with nine catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Robinson’s 50-yard
TD catch capped off his already impressive performance. WR Randy
Moss also hauled in a 50-yard TD catch and fi nished with fi ve catches
for 90 yards and two scores. For Moss, it was his 100th consecutive
game with a reception, which ranked third in team history. Rookie RB
Mewelde Moore caught 12 passes for 90 yards. That mark ranked tied
for second in team history by a running back and set a team record for
most receptions by a rookie. Moore also rushed 20 times for 92 yards
while Culpepper scrambled six times for 30 yards.
Vikings Defense
On the other side of the ball, the Vikings collected 4.0 sacks of
Texans QB David Carr. DT Chris Hovan, DT Kevin Williams, and DE
Lance Johnstone all notched 1.0, while DE Kenny Mixon and DT
Steve Martin each received half a sack. DBs Antoine Winfi eld and
Brian Williams led the team with nine tackles each. Rookie LB Dontarrious
Thomas and S Brian Russell also had seven tackles apiece.
Vikings Special Teams
P Darren Bennett punted eight times for 325 yards (40.6 avg.),
including three that landed inside the Texans 20-yard line. WR Nate Burleson
returned two punts for 17 yards and two kickoffs for 51 yards while
fellow WR Kelly Campbell also returned two kickoffs for 41 yards.

Re: Last Game v Texans
I actually went to that game.
It was a helluva game, though admittedly, if the Vikings had any defense that year, it would never have got to overtime.
Andre Johnson was a beast in that game, and is the main player I'm worried about this time.

Re: Last Game v Texans
That was a pretty memorable game.
Mewelde Moore was awesome.
Andre Johnson was awesome.
We were leading but they came back and tied it.
Marcus Robinson dropped what would have been a sure TD in overtime.
The Vikings did the exact same play again and this time Robinson caught it.
