The fi rst time the Vikings and Packers met was on October
22, 1961, the 6th game of the Vikings’ inaugural season. The
Vikings would fall 33-7 at Met Stadium only to turn around the
following week and lose to the Packers again, 28-10 at Milwaukee.
The last time the two teams played was in Week 4 earlier
this season, with the Packers coming out on top 23-16. In that
game, Vikings RB Adrian Peterson tied a Vikings rookie record
by rushing for his 3rd 100-yard game of the season, matching
the 3 Chuck Foreman had in his 1973 rookie campaign. Vikings
QB Kelly Holcomb fi nished 21-of-39 for 258 yards and a TD,
while Packers QB Brett Favre would break the all-time passing
touchdown record formerly owned by Dan Marino when he
threw a 1st quarter TD pass.
Defensively DE Brian Robison notched his 3rd sack of his
rookie season, while LB E.J. Henderson led the team with 10
total tackles.
