In the second game of the 2007 season (9-16-07), the Vikings lost in
overtime 20-17 at Detroit, snapping a 10-game winning streak against
the Lions and marking the fi rst time the Vikings have lost at Ford Field.
The team was previously 5-0.
After falling behind 17-7 early in the 2nd half, the Vikings scored the
next 10 points and tied the game on a 9-yard fumble recovery for a
touchdown by DE Ray Edwards. With 7 seconds remaining, K Ryan
Longwell’s game-winning attempt hit the left upright and the game was
sent into overtime, where the Lions connected on a 37-yard FG to win.
Offensively the Vikings were led by RB Adrian Peterson, who rushed
20 times for 66 yards and caught 4 passes for 52 yards. On the defensive
side of the ball, CB Antoine Winfi eld led the team with 12 tackles.
For Edwards, it was his fi rst career NFL touchdown; he also fi nished the
game with 1.5 sacks.
