On the left side if the WR takes 2-3 steps in and the ball is out right away there is no way the LB can be there quick enough.. It's all on the corner.. A couple steps later the LB will be in position to make a tackle.. But as for coverage if you get the ball out fast enough it's not on the LB at all IMO

Of course I could be wrong and im just seeing teams hit us with the slants really fast and then our LBs are there to make a tackle

All the LB has to do is take 2 steps and he is in the passing lane my friend which takes away the quick pass.
Again, it isn't his job to run all the way out and help the CB.
Just get into the passing lane to obstruct things a bit.

And that is when they run a draw play up the middle, or bring the TE accross the field on a drag route, to keep the LB honest.

I'm not a fan of dropping our star pass rusher into coverage. It's just a huge gamble. Sometimes it works, but usually it's a failure.

Don't get me wrong, I think the big boys should go after the QB as well, however, if you mix it up by sending 2 LB'rs into the gap and dropping a DL it messes with the QB's head as well as thier blocking schemes resulting in a better pass rush because of the confusion.

Oh I have noticed, still just don't agree with it. You end up with you're DE covering a TE or RB, a huge mismatch at the price of little added pressure. In coverage, it only works if the QB throws something underneath and doesn't see the DE.

Anyways, everything we have said relates to the face that this is a chess match. Taking away the quick slant isn't as simple as moving the LB out a couple of steps.
