Since we haven't "Officially" been "downsized" yet, I haven't entered yet.
We qualify for Federal retraining (which includes 2 yrs of school) since our jobs were lost due - primarily - to the silly FTA's the Politicians keep signing...the ones that Obama and Clinton are vocally opposing in their campaigns (Although the Hillawench stumped for NAFTA when Slick Willy was in office...go figure).

Once we're downsized, I'll have to make a decision.
So far, Nursing has an odd appeal.
Probably because I can go ANYWHERE and get a job.
Oddly, I spent 14 years of my life learning how to put holes in people, now I'm considering patching them up.
That decision isn't carved in stone, but it's how I'm leaning at the moment.
Somehow I don't picture you in a nurse Ratchet uniform.

    Nursing is a good choice.

I do know that if I was in the hospital and you showed up I would be bummed.
There aren't enough hot nurses around and you'll be decreasing the odds of getting one.
You saying I'm not hot, Prophet?

I heard about the downsizing. Sounds like it's going to be a big one. Are they closing the plant in Rockford completely? Those bastards told us everything we supply to them for HVACs will now be sourced overseas. They took the controls we designed & built for them, sent them overseas & had them reverse engineer them & build them cheaper. We're in a bit of a war with them now & downsizing is inevitable due to Chryslers decision.

I suppose if you were head nurse and I was all morphined up and you shaved and I was having drug-induced hallucinations you might be temporarily hot.
I just don't see the right set of conditions happening that would make you hot.

"Head nurse" might not have been the optimal choice of words in this circumstance.

We're tied to GM, but "rumor control" has Chrysler down for the count in Belvidere (right by Rockford).
Personally, I think GM is on it's way out too, since they have newer plants in Arlington (Tx) and Saleao (Mexico) which make the same vehicles (Big SUV's) and both of them got the Hybrids - Janesville did not.
Janesville is the only one De-rating.
The writing is on the wall.

    NAFTA kicked us hard.
KORUS FTA (The proposed one with Korea) would absolutely KILL the US truck market.
But the Pols and the Suits all get their pay-offs, so they don't care.

I hope your company kicks Chrysler in the nards in the dispute.
As long as the FTA's are in place the only thing the US will export in any quantity is good paying jobs.

That is indeed it...although I never had it with bacon in it that I recall.
You have to remember that in Italy there is typically more than one course for dinner, I typically followed the Penne al"Arrabiatta with La Cotoletta Alla Milanese (which is a breaded veal cutlet.
Lemon wedges are a MUST), then I'd finish off with Scarmorza (which is a fried cheese - slightly elastic and sharp, but awesome...eat while still hot).
I actually liked it with the bacon but Wildwoman was to hot on it.

$75 bucks an hour for RNs that can work the ER here in VA.
3 times that if you get into a home care kindof gig.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

That was right at the end of that war. What in the world were you doing there?

    That f&**&*&r was brutal.
I was assigned as a .50 gunner on a Minesweeper.
We were a part of the NATO forces trying to pull the mines out of the gulf.
Oddly, I was an electrician that was "shanghaied" onto the gun.
I asked the XO, "Sir, I'm an electrician.
I don't mind being the gunner, but why me?".
He replied, "You're the only psychopath we have". (TRUE STORY)

That's great stuf; thanks for sharing it.

I didn't even think about all of the mines from that war. I bet the Striat of Hormuz was particularly fouled up with how narrow it is.
