    " PP.O's Who are they really? " 20 Questions with Caine ...

    PP.O name: Caine
    Real name: Jeff
    Age: 41
    Current City: Janesville, WI
    Hometown: Originally, St. Paul
    Occupation: Heading back to school

    1) How did you choose your screen name?

The name came from the Bourne series (The BOOKS, not the not-really-related-to-the-books crappy movies) by Robert Ludlum.
I prefered screen names that weren't mainstream...and, at the time, it wasn't.

    2) Caine, could you tell us a little about where you grew up and about your family?

My Dad was with 3M, so we bounced around a bit.
But, in my first 12 years, 8 of them were in St. Paul.
    I have 3 siblings (2 sisters, 1 brother...although since he's a Packer fan I tell people I have 3 sisters).

Then I grew up (sort of), got married, had a kid (Well, my wife did), got divorced, had a great life, got married again (good bye great life...I'll miss you), had more kids....rinse and repeat.

    3) What type of student where you in High School? Did you play in any sports or where you involved with any school clubs and such?

    Type of student?
An indifferent one, much to my regret.
I played football in high school.
I played Basketball and Hockey when I was younger.

Mostly I was interested in girls and guitars.

    4) What did you do after High School?

Joined the Marines, drank my way out of college, joined the Navy, began a never-ending cycle of "Workin' for the man".

    5)What was your first job?

    Flippin burgers at Burger Chef.
    I HATED that job.
    I only lasted 3 months.

    6) When did you decide to be such a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Vikings?

My Dad was a Viking fan, and growing up mostly in St. Paul I was surrounded by the Viking aura.
Benchwarmer Bob Lurtzema commercials (for Twin City Federal) were all over the radio, Vikings on TV, Viking jerseys, fans galore...it was contagious.
Plus, it was the era of the Purple People Eaters.
With all that going on, how could I NOT be a Viking fan?

    7) Could you tell us one of your favorite memories that has to do with the Vikings or one of its past or present players, coaches, etc.

    The Moss Moon.
Being a dedicated Packer hater, I laughed my head off when Moss faked the moon in Lambeau.
Not only did we knock them out of the play-offs, but the pure outrage of Packer fans everywhere (as hypocritical as it was) was hilarious.
    I still laugh about that.

8}How did you come to find PP.O and what attracted you most to the site?

I was looking for "Packers Suck" on the internet and landed here.
At the time, there were a handful of Packer fans who were giving guff to the Viking fans, and I stepped in...I never left.

    9) What other sports teams do you follow?

    None lately,
I was a huge Hockey fan until the strike.
Since that was fueled by stupidity and greed, I quit watching.
I've slowly been working my way back.
Same goes for baseball...I started following the twins a bit again.

    10) When you’re not on PPO what could you likely be found doing with your spare time?

Getting yelled at by my wife.
Whenever I forget what all my faults might be,
    she reminds me.
It saves me the trouble of remembering them.

I watch a lot of movies and play a lot of
    games with my kids.
The youngest are twins (8 years old as of now) and they give me an excuse not to grow up.

    11) Do you say a special prayer before Vikings games?

    Nope.
I did have a hat that I threw at the TV whenever they did something foolish, but I had to quit.
    Started wearing out my shoulder.

12)Where do you watch away Vikings games?

    At home, usually.
Once in awhile I'll head to a friends house for Viking-Packer games, but usually I stay home.
I get too wrapped up in the game to "socialize".
My wife says I'm obsessed...she may be right.

    13)What is your worst fear?

    Being afraid.
Nothing cripples you up faster than fear.
Aside from the "zen" answer, I'd say the current economic trends in America.
Big business and the government are selling us out so fast it makes your head spin...and we keep lining up for more.

    14) What type of hobbies do you enjoy?

I have few hobbies anymore....wife and kids tend to absorb most of my waking moments.
I used to enjoy playing guitar and shooting (AR-15 and Sig Sauer P220 .45 are my favorite "toys")...I don't do either anymore.
I used to do a lot of PC gaming...stopped doing that.

    I'm boring.
I'm waiting to turn 65 so I can sit in a rocking chair and grumble about the "good old days".

    15) What’s your favorite food?

    Penne al'Arrabiata.

    16) Where are some of the places you’ve been, and where are some of your favorites.

I've been all over Europe (before and during my Military years), been in the Middle East (Iran-Iraq war in '87-88), Africa, Cuba, Carribean, Canada and a bunch of other places.

My favorite place - aside from being in the Dome for a Viking game - would have to be Rome, Italy.
History everywhere you look, and Penne al'Arrabiata...what a great combination.

    17) What is one thing you've always wanted to do, but haven't done yet in your lifetime?

    Be rich.

18)If you could live anywhere where would it be?

    Northern Italy, on the Med.

    19) Do you believe the Vikings will have their big day someday? When they do win the Super Bowl, what will be the first thing you think you will do?

Yes, someday they will win it all.
I have no idea what I'll do...I'm sure there will be some yelling and jumping involved.

    20) Up to this date, what is one of your favorite PPO memories?

    Meeting members at the games.
Singer, Ned, Shock, Webby, and many more...the PPO crowd is a great group to be a part of.
    They are friendly and generous.
I think that's a big part of why the Metrodome is such a fantastic place for me...because the PPOers I've met there have made it such.
I go to see them as much as to see the Vikings.

Nice to learn more about ya. I'm gonna have to disagree with the Bourne movies... I think they're pretty sweet.

I wish more people posted pics with their 20 questions...

    Nice read!

*Caine would post his photo, but seeing him wearing a Favre jersey wouldn't go well with this thread

I don't think it would have been as great had it not been at Lamboo, but I'm pretty sure that I put that in my 20 questions too!!

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!

The movies are decent, but as so many other times, the movies hardly do the books justice.

Other than that, good to get to know you Caine. I'm sure it's not your wifes only quality to tell you what your shortcomings are.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Nice to know some more about you Caine - the Moss Moon was good not only for upsetting the Packers but also to hear Joe "YMCA" Buck get his lycra in such a twist over it as well.

Getting yelled at by my wife.

well women do that sort of stuff so well - why try to do it yourself .. lol
Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

A very intersting read from one of the best posters on the site.
    Thanks for sharing

As the cook in the house, I am always looking for new recipes....
Since you mentioned Penne al'Arrabiata twice I looked it up.
If this is the same dish, then I think I have a great idea for dinner.

Although a it doesn't have much for meat, I though I would throw in a bit of my homemade Italian Sausage (Venison) into the mix.

Edit....I made this last night and it was excellent.
A bit spicy, however, I love spicy food.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg
