    " PP.O's Who are they really? " 20 Questions with ultravikingfan ...

    PP.O name:
    Ultravikingfan
    Real name:
    Dan
    Age:
    33
    Current City:
    Medina, OH
    Hometown:
    Fargo, ND
Occupation: Distribution System Operator for electric utility

    1) How did you choose your screen name?

    Good question.
A few years before I became a member of PP.O I had an ebay account for collecting some Viking's collectibles and my username was ultravikingfan.
So, when I signed-up to PP.O I just used that.
I think it’s kinda lame; but what can I do?

    2) ultra, could you tell us a little about where you grew up and about your family?

I was born at Dakota Hospital in Fargo, but we lived outside of Moorhead in Sabin.
Parents divorced when I was less than 2 (do not know exactly) and my mom, brother, and I soon moved to an apartment near downtown Fargo.
Brother moved to my dad’s when I was in 2nd grade.
Lived with my from until my freshman year.
I then moved to Marshall, MN to live with my dad for 2 years before moving in with my best friend and his family for my last 2 years of High School.
    I graduated from Moorhead…I was a Spud!

As you can maybe figure out, could not stand either of my parents.
That is why I lived my best friend and his family.

    3) What type of student where you in High School? Did you play in any sports or where you involved with any school clubs and such?

First 2 years of High School I was an average student.
Never really committed myself to getting great grades.
Those first 2 years I played football, wrestled, and ran track.
I was also in student council and voted a
    class officer.
I was average in sports; a starter but not a top notch guy.

When I moved to Moorhead I was not able to play football right away since I just moved, so I did not play any sports my last 2 years of HS.
However, I became a straight ‘A’ student my last 2 years.

    4) What did you do after High School?

While I was a Junior I joined the Army Reserve.
The summer between my Jr. and Sr. year I went to Basic Training at age 17.
After my Senior year I did my advanced training.
I was registered to attend NDSU that fall.
But because my training went longer than expected, I missed the first semester.
I had a hard time finding a decent job; so I delivered auto parts.

Life was going nowhere for months, so I went Active Duty for 3 years.

    5)What was your first job?

I guess I kind of answered this in the last question.
My first full-time job was delivering auto parts.
My first real job was the Army,
I was a Medic in the 101st Airborne.

    6) When did you decide to be such a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Vikings?

I am not going to say I was born a fan.
I think it is funny how people can claim that.
As if the popped out of the womb and automatically knew what the Vikings were.
Even people born into a Vikings family sometimes are not Vikings fans.

The first football game I really remember was Super Bowl XVI in 1982; I was 8.
I did not have a dad around to watch football with, so I just watched it by myself.
After that game I started watching the Vikings every week.
    Tommy Kramer was my hero.
I had a jersey, shoulder pads, and a helmet I used to wear all the time.
My mom would put black eye liner under my eyes just like Tommy.
Through High School I watched every, single game.
When I was in the Army my mom taped every game for 3 years and sent them to me.

    7) Could you tell us one of your favorite memories that has to do with the Vikings or one of its past or present players, coaches, etc.

    Hmmm, that’s tough.
I think the best memories are that of the players I really looked up to when I was young.
I loved watching Kramer and Studwell.
Studwell played the game like a LB should; not like the pussies do today.
When is the last time you saw a LB with blood on his hands and arms?
I also loved watching Carter make the most spectacular catches…just phenomenal.
I know the majority here seem to be Moss guys when it comes to Viking WR’s.
I attribute that to the fact that they did not watch Cris during his entire tenure with the team.
    Cris was the best.

8}How did you come to find PP.O and what attracted you most to the site?

I remember doing a lot of internet searches for Viking’s pictures, video, etc.
I think that I chose PP.O because it had the best downloads and images I could swipe.

    9) What other sports teams do you follow?

I follow the Twins, Gophers (shocked are you?), NDSU, OSU, and I used to follow the Wolves.

    10) When you’re not on PPO what could you likely be found doing with your spare time?

Most all of my spare time is reserved for my family.
Life is short and I want to make the best of it while I am here.
I spend a lot of time with my boys teaching them sports.
I try to not only teach them the athletic points of sports, but the mental aspect and approach.
The greatest compliment I could ever get would be to see my son’s live there life with pride, respect, and dedication.

    11) Do you say a special prayer before Vikings games?

    No.
Although I love the Vikings, my prayers are reserved for those who need them more (although the Vikings present a strong case).
I can get pretty loud at times and I probably say things that no Christian should ever put in a prayer.

12)Where do you watch away Vikings games?

I have had the NFL Sunday ticket for years now.
So I watch them at home.
There is no dollar amount that I would not pay for it.
    Just don’t tell Diectv that.

    13)What is your worst fear?

    Not seeing my boys.

    14) What type of hobbies do you enjoy?

    Playing any sport.
I guess coaching football is a hobby that I enjoy a lot.
There has been nothing more rewarding to me than teaching you kids the game of football.
My approach to football helps these kids in more than just football.
It’s the same philosophy whether it’s football, another sport, or anything in life.

    15) What’s your favorite food?

    Onions.
I would put onions an anything and will fry one up and eat it.
My dad always used to tell me that onions put hair on your chest.
    He sure was right!

    16) Where are some of the places you’ve been, and where are some of your favorites.

Other than half of the US, I have been to Mexico (yuck), Jamaica (yuck), Haiti (yuck), Panama, and Grand Cayman.
Grand Cayman was the best yet.
Very clean and people are not asking you to buy crap.

    17) What is one thing you've always wanted to do, but haven't done yet in your lifetime?

Put together some sort of league (any sport) for handicapped or terminally ill people.
I once saw something on ESPN where I guy put together a football game for handicapped and people who are dying.
They just came out and threw balls, messed around, and had fun.
He also got some big names athletes to come out as well.
Just seeing these special people have the time of their life was awe-inspiring to me.
After I saw that I had a very hard time holding back the tears and somehow I knew that I was destined to do something special for people.

18)If you could live anywhere where would it be?

    Norway.
From what I have read and the photos, seems like a great country.

    19) Do you believe the Vikings will have their big day someday? When they do win the Super Bowl, what will be the first thing you think you will do?

Yes, I think that in my lifetime they will win the Super Bowl.
When they do win it, I will run onto the field and grab a clump of dirt or turf because I will be there.
They can arrest me, but it will be worth it.

    20) Up to this date, what is one of your favorite PPO memories?
    [/quote]

I don’t really have any one single memory that I can think of.
I guess for me it was the time when Del, The Animal, 6, Caine and Cajun where here more.
Those fuckers all together were the funniest group ever!
We still have some excellent members out there today, but those guys are legends!

(Just for Del, it was his favorite .gif)

Great to meet you, Ultra. Without sounding like a total ass, may I ask who is Spencer Rece on your tat?

Thanks for sharing , Ultra. Keep up the good work. There is nothing more important than what you are doing to raise those sons of yours. Although you can come off as grumpy some times, I value your thoughts on the Vikings and the work you do as a mod. SKOL.

Way more interesting than mine(not posted yet)

Hey Ultra I thought for sure you would mention the "Battle Of Tam-upon" in the valley of Ka-mel Tow Mountains
But is was a bloody battle, no strings holding you back, everybody was in a bad mood that battle.

    "VICTORY IS MINE!"
