    Re: Your Favorite Song

I listen to a variety of music. I like Hey Jude and Lady Madonna by the Beattles, Iris by Goo Goo Dolls, and the Gambler by Kenny Rogers is a good one to as I have sang all of these doing Karaokee. It's pretty fun as long as you know the words. Oh yeah I also like mostly 80's and alot of Red Hot Chili Peppers songs like Higher and the Zephyr Song

Al Green is AWESOME...STILL! But the GREATEST R&B/Soul singer is...WITHOUT A DOUBT...is SAM COOKE! When they have to create a new genre of music for what you do (they started calling Sam's secular music, SOUL, because he used to be the lead for The Soul Stirrers, a gospel group), then you know that you are something special. He was Marvin Gaye's idol (a GIANT in his own right)...and was cut down in the prime of his life. His "A Change Is Gonna Come" was a precursor for Marvin's epic "What's Goin' On" album. If you don't listen to him now, check it out...CLASSIC!
Would you believe me if I told you I have Sam Cooke: Portrait Of A Legend 1951 - 1964? Absolutely first-class.. So many great songs:

Bring It On Home To Me
I'll Come Running Back To You
    Nothing Can Change This Love
Touch The Hem Of His Garment
    (Ain't That) Good News
    Sad Mood

    And of course, the classics:

    (What A) Wonderful World
    Cupid

I can't believe I forgot about Sam Cooke.. I'm listening to the album right now as it goes.

Who woulda thought I was first exposed to his music at 16 thanks to a Media Studies class on advertising focusing on THOSE Levi's ads from the early '90s.. You know, the ones with the guy in laundrette and the gas station.
