You can actually sue the place you bought it form for 1.) Selling a car with illegally tinted windows and 2.) Not telling you about it...

Or you could just pay your fine and forget about it. How much was the ticket?

He got off with a warning..
    How do you know that?
You said it in your first post, I just skimmed over it.
    Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

I just got a warning, had to walk a straight line on the side of the freeway though. In any case I don't think I'll be suing anyone.
A buddy of mine who is working on becoming a cop told me that some cops will scratch the illegal tint with a key so that you are forced to get it fixed, that would piss me off. The cop that pulled me over made it seem like he would never/rarely give a ticket for it but just used it as an excuse to pull me over and check for alcohol/drug use.
I would be willing to bet that you are dead on about the cop using it as an excuse to check for a DUI.
Especially if he had a year or two on the force.
After you get past the rookie phase, you don't get a hard on writing citations anymore.
IN fact, they are a pain in the ass if you get called into court over one.
But cops still use the minor traffic laws all the time as probable cause to pull someone over and check for anything else.

BTW, if a cop scratches you window with his key, I would definitely take it to court.
And let him or her explain to the judge why they intentionally damaged private property.
I have seen a cop do something stupid like that before, but he ended up having a short career.
    Most cops know better.
I think your buddy is reiterating some of the many stories that trainees get fed.
Every cop has them - fish tales about how they did this or that and really taught a lesson to some young punk, or some executive with an overinflated self image, or some rich house wife who thought she was better than cops, etc.
But in the end they are almost all fish tales and exaggerations.

My tickets haven't been because of my vehicle, it's been because of my foot

    Is that Km/hour?
    That's about 75mph in a 55mph, right?
