While that is true about the sub-vocalizing, from a psychology stand point, that is not what this is about. The same effect has been demonstrated on people who have been deaf all their life. Although it is suspected that deaf people use a technique similar to sub-vocalization when reading, each person's technique is unique to them. Therefore it should not be possible to see statistically similar results among people with different sub-vocalization techniques.

Anyway... as far as your comment Shey, no, the ability to chunk effectively is not a strong indicator of intelligence. I believe there is a form of dyslexia that tends to correlate slightly both with problems chunking and a high level of math ability, but for the most part, there is no correlation at all. This test is more of a fun way to exploit our understanding of how we analyze data than a true determinant of mental ability.

Man, I gotta stop doing that. People are going to start thinking I am a bigger geek than I really am.
