How much time are you going to be in Yellowstone will determine what you can see of course. Been there several times and there is so much to see, it's almost impossible to tell you what to see because there are so many different things.
Some of my "must-sees" would be Old Faithful (of course). Yellowstone Falls. I would take the "Mud-Pot" walk to the west of Old Faithful. A drive alone the Yellowstone River is always nice and you see a lot of wildlife. Fishing Bridge and around that are is always neat but it's kind of a boring ride to get there with not much but prairie around. Another place you may want to look at if you are going to be there in the fall is on the North End near Mammoth Hot Springs. I don't think the Hot Springs is particulary that great but that time of the year the elk are in the town. And I mean huge elk. You can drive right up to them. If you stay in Mammoth Hot Springs at night they will keep you awake all night with their screaming. It sends chills up and down you spine. I love the drive from Mammoth Hot Springs to Tower Junction along the river. You best bet to see wolves is also along that road.
Just a few places for you to consider.

Oh rats, I just saw you are going in July. In my mind the worst possible time to go there. The place is overflowing with tourists. I would much rather go in mid-late September.

And if you've got time drive down to Jackson Hole and see the mountains on the other side of the lake from the highway.

They can be found anywhere, but most of them frequent the campground areas where pickings are easy. Especially look around the campground areas in the Yellowstone Falls area.
