Yankees great Rizzuto dies at age 89

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20263214/
Phil Rizzuto, the Hall of Fame shortstop during the Yankees’ dynasty years and beloved by a generation of fans who delighted in hearing him exclaim “Holy cow!” as a broadcaster, died Tuesday. He was 89.

His death was confirmed by the Yankees. Rizzuto had been in declining health for several years and was living at a nursing home in West Orange, N.J.

Rizzuto, known as “The Scooter,” was the oldest living Hall of Famer. He played for the Yankees throughout the 1940s and ’50s, won seven World Series titles and played in five All-Star games.

    RIP Phil.

Two things that make me think of him even though I am way too young to have ever seen him play:

    1. The cow knocking him over on Phil Rizzuto day at Yankee stadium.

    and

    2. Billy Madison get pissed off when writing cursive because he can't write z's!

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!

One of the true class acts that makes it tough to always be a Yankee hater. Rizzuto was a true worker who played the game hard and the way it ought to be played. His numbers might not look hall worthy, but he was the heart and soul of the team that won five-straight world championships. It is a wonderful thing that he got into the hall so that his legend will live on long after he is gone.
