Exactly... Microsoft has never said the 360 will be 100% backwards compatible... that's the goal, but they admit they are definitely not there yet.
There's been a lot of press about not all the games being backwards compatible too... so while I'm sorry and feel for you dude, just do a lil research next time.

The PS3 won't be 1000 dollars. Last I checked it was 500-600.

Sony only announced last week that the PS3 is not going to be released in Europe until March 07, so once again we get the bum deal. The only thing that's stopping me buying a 360 right now is the amount of PS2 games I own that I haven't played much. The other problem that I have is my PS2 is on its last legs, the laser mechanism keeps getting stuck so I have to open it up and move it back into place practically every time I load up a new game.

If it does pack in altogether it's Dreamcast time for me, at least until March.

It's not a scam.

You will almost NEVER see a company put thier products limitations on the box.
It's up to the consumer to get thier fingernails in the dirt and find the limitations.

The new Nintendo is going to be less than $250, and you can download games from NES, SNES, SEGA GENESIS, N64 and play Gamecube games. I'll definitely be buying one, and then maybe in 5 years I can afford the PS3 ($500)

I will admit when I wrote this I was Pissed off. I've settled down a bit. It's not a scam just not widely understood.

The problem with the researching is I did my homework.

I would say go to Microsoft's website www.xbox.com look over the system specs.

Here is the one line about the backward-compatible.

"Xbox 360 with the hard drive is backward-compatible for an array of original Xbox titles too, which means both original and Xbox 360 gamers will be able to play in the same matches online with Xbox Live."

I'm not really out money I can return it so that is not the problem. It's just it should be more widely understood that your previous games most likely are not on the list. I don't have 50+ bucks to spend on new games at this point.

Anyway currenlty it's a hellva DVD player hehe.

Thanks for the input though, I just wanted to make sure others knew about the limited backward-compatible.

Sega named some of the classic games you can play on the new Nintendo:



* Ecco the Dolphin


* Altered Beast


* Toe Jam & Earl


* Golden Axe


* Columns


* Sonic the Hedgehog


* Ristar

Who even plays their old games anymore :P.
All my time is spent on Oblivion and Madden 2007.

I have the PS2 and love it - won't get an XBox!!! I buy all my games used anyway. Can't remember the last time I bought a new game.
