Re:The Worst Present You Ever Bought Thread

Once I was dating this girl for about a month and bought her a really nice, expensive gold pendant. As luck would have it, we broke up about 2 weeks before Christmas. Thus, I still have it to this day.

Serves me right for breaking one of my golden rules: To never get involved in a new relationship around the holidays or Valentine’s Day.

I was in Ecuador and bought this really fancy dress for my sister, took the rest of the coinage that I had and was so excited to give it to her for Christmas. I gave it to her and she started crying because she had gained too much weight since last time I saw her and she couldn't wear it. Turns out that she tried to sell it in a consignment store a year or so later and they wouldn't even take it. It was either the style differences in that part of the world or, more likely, my intoxicated buying binge that was flawed.
Tell the truth Prophet. You bought the dress for yourself b/c you knew your sister had gained weight and would not be able to wear it. It looks really good on you by the way.

My grandma only bought the grand kids gifts twice that I can remember. One year we all got berenstein bears books, my sister who was about 4 loved hers, me and my brothers who were approximately 9, 11, 13 were less impressed.

The other time me and my older brother got a chia pet to share. We were both in our teens.
They had chia pets way back then? Did they have fire yet?

this one was one of the worst given to me:

About 7 years ago, I dislocated my shoulder for the second time, doctor said I should stop snowboarding, since when you wipe out, you roll and the shoulders are at risk. Well, later that year for christmas I get a new pair of snowboard boots and a board bag.
    LOL. That would hurt.

OK, My good friend bleed just expanded the scope of the thread.......Feel free to include worst gifts given to you as well.

    OUCH......

I don't think I've ever seen anyone actually cry when I gave them one of my gifts. You might be in the running for worst gift.

In my case, it wasn't so much that they where bad gifts, but I must have gotten the gifts mixed up, and I put the wrong name on them...

My Dad recieved a really nice set of 6 Silk Bra's....His face? Something like this

My Niece Terra, A book titled " Iron Coffins " A story about WWII German U-Boats.

    Her face:

LOL, all was straightend out with a quick gift swap....
LOL, I do that all the time. In fact, I think I have a couple messed up under the tree this year.

Tends to happen when I wait until the last minute, run out and buy a bunch of gifts and wrap them in a hurry before everyone gets home.

Of course I don't lable as I wrap, I just wrap them all and then lable them all. Probably when the mix up occurs.

LOL, Hey, I asked my sister what could I buy for her, and or, what did she want. That was one of 3 items, if I remember correctly. Gave me a good reason to hang out at Victoria's Secrets, at the mall. LOL Plus, once I got a look at the price, I knew she couldn't afford them herself. Sis also gave me the size info.....

Once the mix up was straighted out, she loved the gift! Thats what matters most.
LOL, nice recovery my friend. I thought they had ya there for a minute.

I love the Chia Pet things. Once I tried to put a few "Seeds" of a different nature in one. Didn't work, but it was cool watching it try to grow.

On a side note, grandparents never give good gifts. In fact I don't think I ever got anything from mine at all. On the other hand though, Wildwomans grandmother sends me socks, T-shirts and mixed nuts for Christmas every year.

    Grammmsssss must love me.

    Worst gift recieved.....

I was having problems buying shells that patterned good for my old shotgun. My buddy, who had the same gun, decided to make m up a batch of reloaded shotgun shells (Double-Ought Buck) specially loaded for my gun that he guaranteed would pattern good.

Shot the first one, not to bad, shot the second one, again, not to bad so I decided to shoot multiple rounds through it......

Bam, Bam KAPOW......Wad from the second one didn't get out of the barrel. Luckily I only got a bit of the shrapnel in my face and the other guys were far enough behind me when my barrel exploded so none of them got hurt either.
