    Re:Woodpecker VS. Snake

I'll tell you how that woodpecker survived, It is a Pileated Woodpecker, It's the largest woodpecker in the world, About the size of a crow, The holes it drills (One every other year) are used by Wood ducks, Hooded Mergansers-Duck like bird, and Screech owls, Where I live (1 mile from the Mississippi River) they are fairly common.

A few years ago while doing a Red Shouldered Hawk early Spring breeding count (I told you in my 20 questions I was a bird nerd) I watched one of these huge woodpeckers attack a Coopers Hawk which is a member of the Accipiter family, one of three hawks that live in the woods and eat mainly other birds, up to and including their own size-amazing compared to the common Red Tails that sit for hours to catch a mouse.

Really all the woodpecker was doing was protecting it's young that were in the tree the hawk was trying-but couldn't get into, Eventually the hawk left, But it was fun to watch considering normally when this species of hawk appears at a backyard feeder all birds disappear and are silent, Pretty brave of the woodpecker.

This is the only time the word woodpecker will be used this much on here ever again.
Even if the Vikings lose, I can still find happiness in Bears, and Packer losses.
