Still A Vikes Fan After All These Years (with apologies to Paul Simon)
I met some fellow Vikes fan
At the game last night
They seemed so glad to see me
I just smiled
And we talked about the old players
And we drank ourselves some beers
Still a Vikes fan after all these years
Still a Vikes fan after all these years
I'm not the kind of fan
Who tends to bandwagon
I seem to cheer on
My old familiar team
And I ain't no fool for sticking with
The Vikes through pain and tears
Still a Vikes fan after all these years
Still a Vikes fan after all these years
Early in the afternoon
Vikings they are
Playing
Football's my life Sunday
I will never waver
Why should I?
The Vikes are here to stay
Now I sit by my TV
And I watch the games
I fear I'll do some damage
What a stupid play
But I would not be criticized
By a stadium of my peers
Still a Vikes fan
Still a Vikes fan
Still a Vikes fan after all these yearsBANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

Re: Why I'm A Viking After All These Years
I grew up in Minnesota and have been to Vikes games at all of the cities in our division (all wearing my Randle jersey with the name ripped off to make it a williams jersey) plus a Sunday night game at KC. In college I had to go to a bar to watch all the games, even in our worst years I never missed a game. Last year, I went to every home game despite not being able to afford it but hey I'm young. To answer your question, i guess there are three main reasons: 1: its in my blood and i love this team no matter what 2: Can't wait for that first Super Bowl. 3: I need something to b!tch about

Re: Why I'm A Viking After All These Years
I have been a Viking fan since 1967. I've seen evereything Viking.
Lived through every Victory and defeat.
I have been ridiculed for following them all my life.
But they are a part of me and I am in way a part of them.
We all are.
The feeling of total devotion to one team has a feeling of family.
So many of my friends just jump on the latest bandwagon for the hot pick in sports. They are always saying that is my team THIS year.
What the hell does that mean? This year?
I could never watch a sport were my team changed every year.
Viking til I die.
And honestly my casket that is part of my funeral is Viking purple with a Viking Head on the lid.
So when someone digs me up in 2000 years they will know were I stood on football.

Re: Why I'm A Viking After All These Years
I was born and raised in St. Paul and spent 20 years there. starting at the age of seven, my father explained the game of football to me while we watched the vikings every sunday. It became a ritual. When I think of professional football, i think of the vikings. My interest in football is thus inseperable from the vikings. I have followed them through good years and bad. That wont change as long as I love football.
