"'Did you sleep with him [Richard Miller] while in Sikeston for the rodeo?'," Cameron Parker, Richard's lawyer, said she asked Holly Marie Adams in 2003 court testimony, to which she answered "'Yes ma'am.'" "She then said she went to appellant's [Raymon Miller's]home where they had sex later that night or early the next morning," Parker said.

Because even in the 21st century, the USA is still basically a patriarchical society where it is The Man's job to protect The Woman.
The Woman is seen as a delicate object to be protected, so that The Man can claim her for his own.

Any Woman who has slept around is no longer the delicate object, so she is labelled as such so that other Men know to stay away.

I suppose there's some further deeper analysis about it, but I just don't care that much.
