What's the cause of the pp.o slowdown?
In the last couple years the activity on the site has slowed to a crawl. Five years ago it was always moving now it's dead. I know it's the offseason but it was never this slow.

I blame that Marrdro yutz. He hasn't given us anything good to discuss. :P
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

I blame Favre and the GOP equally.

Re: What's the cause of the pp.o slowdown?
the choices for the poll could be revised...
i like the newer layout, it took me a while to figure out how to navigate it, but it reminds me of a facebook kind of thing. though i've never been able to figure out how to search for specific forums.
the Favre talk was inevitable. bringing in arguably one of the best (definitely most controversial) players to ever play the game is gonna be a major topic of discussion.
boredom also makes sense, with the lockout and everything, but that doesnt explain the last few years.

The Vikings record and how far we are from being a competitor.

IMO the site slowed right down when the new format was introduced, I don't know why because it really shouldn't have made a difference. The fact that some "big name" members have either left, been kicked out or stopped posting as much over the last few years is also a factor. I've noticed too that nearly all of the posts are football related these days. Of course it's a football site and you would expect that, but longer term members will probably remember some of the good, bad and ugly places some of the non football threads went down in years gone by.

I think this post sums up my thoughts nicely.

Re: What's the cause of the pp.o slowdown?
I've spent most of my internet time the last six months on another forum, a fishing forum. They talk a lot of Vikings over there so it's easy to get both fixes in one spot. With the slow down over here I've found myself spending more and more time over there. If it weren't for the familiarity of the "faces" here I probably wouldn't be around at all. I'm not trying to rip this site at all, it will always be my first love. I lost my forum virginity here, lol. Football discussion only holds my interest for so long. I bet we'll see things pick up after the draft, at least for a little while.
For whatever it's worth I like the "new" layout. I think it's easy on the eyes and quicker to navigate once you get the hang of it.

Re: What's the cause of the pp.o slowdown?
I would agree, that it seems after the layout switch, the posting seems to have dropped off considerably. Webby claims site traffic is up, and pageloads are up, but there just seem to be fewer and fewer posts. I remember a few years ago around this time it was practically impossible to keep up with all the new posts, now, not so much. Some of the 'big-name' posters have either left (Cajun, C Mac, ItalianStallion, 6kings, etc), or just really slowed down (Zeus, Prophet, etc). Some newer guys who have signed up, and were pretty active seem to have disappeared (TravellingVike).
The lockout definitely doesn't help though. No real nfl news can happen during this time, so any post will be either speculation about something, or just bringing up things that have been discussed in detail before.
