IMO the best athletes in the USA are in the WORLD CUP playing for us right now. There physical conditioning is unparalled to any athlete in any of the major leagues here in the usa.

Re: What if the U.S's best athletes were playing in the worl

The fact of the matter is this: Soccer is not the most popular sport in the U.S. That spot is firmly held by football. Soccer, known as football outside the U.S., is the most popular sport, at least team sport, in most other countries. The best athletes in those countries play soccer like our nation's best athletes dream of playing in the NFL, Major League Baseball or the NBA.
Why does every soccer article have to have this in it. It goes without saying. Everyone in the US knows this, it doesn't have to be repeated for 20 years.

Back on track, I heard a Donovan interview on ESPN last night where he said that he was out on the field before running around thinking that was all he had to be was athletic on the field. Basically he was saying, it is mental and strategy also. So inconclusion to the guys article, you have to have the best players on the field, not the best athletes.

If only TO could play soccer, then we wouldn't have to hear about him as much.

i like this article just because of sheer maginitive ness. that said we wouldnt fuction well because of the me first personalitys of to kobe and others. i will point out though that while chad johsohn has fun does crazy celebration s and makes big plays he is a team guy. i live in ohio and i have not once herd anything remotly true about him butting heads with anyone on the team.

I would love to see that team practice together for 6 months and then compete in the Worl Cup and see how well they would do.

KG in goal would be hilarious, but Americans find the slow pace of baseball boring so the slow developing action akeeps the popularity of soccer down.
